Very small sample size, and the numbers will take a huge hit this week, but...

2022: 32 points, 361 total yards and 301 yards passing per game

2021: 22.6 points, 337 total yards and 201.2 passing yards per game

Surprisingly its been Wells and Brooks and not Vann and Bell on the receiving end

Rushing yards look to be half of last year based on the averages. It is hard to win in the SEC if you can't run the ball.
Rattler has to be at least a threat to run (like C. Shaw was) to take some heat off of our very predictable running game and of course our OL has to be on a mission to make and hold their blocks better.

A quarterback draw or option play now and then might be a good call.

I thought Rattler looked pretty good running against Ga St but he seemed slow against Arkansas (or maybe they were just that much faster). Based on what I've seen through 2 games I wouldn't say he's a true dual threat. He's definitely mobile and has managed to avoid a number of sacks already through 2 games, but I don't think he can be the type of running threat that the D has to account for.

Agree, but if he takes off on occasion it at least keeps them honest. Yes, Arky was fast and bringing outside pressure.

This is what I have seen. Rattler is a mobile qb, not a dual threat qb. Also, turning him into a runner really exposes him to injury and losing him would pretty well eliminate any chance of winning 6 games. A weak OL is kryptonite in the SEC. No OC is good enough to scheme around a weak OL. Unfortunately, when a team has a weak OL year after year it becomes something of a feedback loop. Top OL prospects don't want to go to a team where the OL is known as a weakness so the OL never gets better so no top prospects go there and so on.

We have several 4* committed for the 2023 class. Gotta keep them in the fold.

I know what you mean....and we have to go after talent when we can get it....but our coaches have to be great evaluators of talent. They have to be able to judge and either correctly predict whether a guy translates to this next (highest) level of football that most will ever attain. It's gotta be more than the height/size//long arms/bove average feet combo.
The guys have to translate to be able to actually play well.

You have to be 2 or 3 deep at OL if you want a really good OL. Most people don't realize OL is probably the hardest position to play on a football team. 4 star HS OL are generally simply physically superior to anyone they face and are rated based on size, speed, etc.. When they get to college and have to face D linemen who were the best of the best in HS many of them don't end up being the stars they thought they were going to be. The speed and quickness of college D linemen and linebackers is a huge adjustment for an O lineman coming out of HS.
