No way. It’s mortgaging the future for short-term gains. Play Allar today and benefit more tomorrow.
You don't think tomorrow benefits from an 11-2 season winning an Orange Bowl when it comes to things like recruiting, program momentum, etc? I don't feel the extra reps in games for Drew trumps all of that...he'll get those reps in mop-up time and in our early games next season.

Not nearly as much as preparing a new QB to lead the team for the next two seasons.

On a slide, the ball is to be spotted where the sliding motion began. It was close to being before the line to gain.

People here also seem to have an irrational hatred of him at this point. Clifford certainly hasn't played "terribly all season". He likely gives us the best chance to win at this point, and usually coaches play the guy that gives them the best chance to win, not the guy with more long range potential.
It is AMAZING that you can watch this mediocrity and continue to insist that Allar/Veillieux are even worse.

What are you talking about? He should be the starter next year. If he doesn’t get snaps this year, his mop-up snaps come in the BW game. Remember this when some of his only meaningful snaps come against West Virginia next year in the opener.

If you can’t beat Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers and a bad MSU team with AllR or Vellieux, then there are bigger problems to worry about

And the bowl practices.

I think 10 wins is important for recruiting and the bowl. That said, I don’t know that playing Allar now hurts much.
Getting blue chip recruits playing time is probably also good for recruiting. Not an easy balancing act for Franklin, but probably an necessary one.

How Franklin can defend keeping Clifford in at this first half performance is beyond me. It's very clear JF is loyal to a fault with with players. PSU won't win the big games or national championship with JF. He can't make the hard decision.

They’re just… not going to let these other guys play. They are going to hang themselves with Clifford and then go into the press conference and lie about how he gives us the best chance to win.

I mean, seriously— what do you need to see from him before you finally give someone else a chance? He overthrows passes by 5 yards. Throws into double coverage and gets picked. Can’t consistently move the offense. Constantly needs receivers to make insane catches to bail him out.

I can’t believe some of you buy into this crap about how “he’s the best we’ve got!” Imagine being Drew Allar and constantly hearing that Clifford is better than you while he continues to go out there and fail.

Great play by Carter, btw.

Not at the expense of 2023. A NYD bowl is meaningless compared to the main goal of winning the B1G and playing in the CFP.
So if a NY6 bowl is meaningless then I guess it really does not matter if record is 10-2 or 6-6 since the main goal is already gone?

How many potentially explosive deep balls does Clifford mis-throw on this possession?
