It's important to criticize Franklin when PSU wins. The BWICAC understands that game reps are important for the big moments in the season when PSU loses.

9/10/1983: 14-3, Cincinnati over PSU, at Beaver Stadium

The 1983 season was a frustrating one. It's started in the Kickoff Classic, where Nebraska beat PSU 44-6. Cincy was the next game. Then PSU hosted Iowa, and lost to them 42-34. So PSU started off the season 0-3. They then defeated Temple, Rutgers, Alabama (ranked #3), Syracuse, and West Virginia (ranked #4). They then went up to Boston College, and lost 27-17. PSU then defeated Brown, and then Notre Dame. And then the ultimate frustration game, 24-24 tie @ Pitt. PSU ended the season in the Aloha Bowl, where they defeated Washington, 13-10.
Thank you much for the history Thomas,
Thomas

I know we’ve all been celebrating a big win with lattes all around. However, before we award Allar the Heisman and Franklin a NATTY. o_O , please take this opportunity to remember that kent state is dog crap.

SUNDAY COLUMN: Nittany Lions stars 'Great' on day when 'Good Enough' would have more than sufficed.

So, maybe this has been covered earlier in the discussion yesterday. Sorry if I missed it, but I noticed Vega playing C. Is this just Trautwein playing around with options vs an inferior opponent or is this a more permanent move?

Everyone is aware of that, however we have played a lot of dog crap teams over the years and how many of them did we gain 718 yards of offense against? Zero….so there’s that.

Final Score

Penn State 56
Last week Tennesse 71

First loss of the season for the Nittany Lions.
I believe we even paid the Golden Flashes more for the opportunity than the Volunteers.

Tennessee paid Kent State $1.35 million to play at Neyland Stadium on Saturday, according to USA TODAY Sports. The Vols crushed Kent State 71-0, setting multiple program records offensively.

Kent State served as one of Penn State's two “buy games” of the 2024 season, where the Nittany Lions give a lower-tier team a massive payday to serve as a warmup game in Beaver Stadium. In Burns' case, he and the Golden Flashes made a reported $1.6 million to lose 56-0.

Tennessee got a bigger bang for their buck. I would say that we should count the buy week as a loss as well, 2-2. 🙃
