3rd & 5 at the 9, and PSU runs Allen to the short side. MSU was not fooled on that.

PSU to kick a FG with 1:31 left in the half
I know you've touched on this before Tom, but haven't we signed some of the top kickers and punters in the country the past few years?

Can't wait until he's gone Those are the type of things that can keep a team like this in the game. Should be 20-0

I’m telling you: this Paterno-like commitment to seniority is agonizing. PUT THE BEST 11 GUYS ON THE FIELD.

Note to Franklin - by the Blue/White game. Go find a descendant of the Bahr family and make one of them the FG kicker for next season.....

not as easy as you seem to indicate. PSU actually had a descendant of the Bahr family (a nephew of Chris and Matt) as a PWO more than a decade ago, and that didn't work out. Lots of kids with strong legs (which the aforementioned kid had) who don't become starters as FG or KO kickers.

At home with no crowd or wind would probably be a great time to break in a new kicker. Perhaps he's the best they have.

MSU to try a 52-yard FG with 1 sec left in the half, and ...

he makes it (with distance to spare).

14-3, PSU, at the half

Agree

Terrible play calling down by the goal line Quit playing with this team. Clifford hasn't looked @ Tinsley all game.
Just when I want to give Yurcich credit for that double pass, he goes back to the 60s. This Sparty team SUCKS at pass defense. Throw the ball some down the middle!!

Not good, but nothing excuses FG kicking. This game can still be lost because of it. The guy can't even hit relative chip shots. What a head case.

Agree.....but don't waste schollie on an inconsistent fg kicker.

I think it was @NateBauer or @TFrankCarr that said kicker rankings are a craps shoot. Super subjective and based on who goes to what camps. And I think a lot of it is based on leg strength which is only a fraction of the puzzle.

Demonstrated history isn't hindsight

zzzzz

From HS, when he was offered a 'ship (which is the issue raised to which I responded):

Rated as a five-star kicker and the No. 9 recruit by Kohl’s Professional Camps

Connected on 9-of-13 field goal attempts, including two makes from 60 yards, and had 37 kickoffs for 2,200 yards as a senior.

Review from Kohl:

"Pinegar recently attended the 2017 Midwest Spring Showcase. He is one of the best athletes in the 2018 class. He has explosive hips and fast leg. He charted well by making 9 field goals and also averaged 71.75 yards per kickoff. Having the ability to call on his "A" ball will need to be a focus this summer. His "A" ball on kickoffs, is in the top 3 nationally. Pinegar attended the 2016 Winter Showcase Camp in December. He charted very well going 8 out of 10 on field goals. Pinegar has as much upside as anyone in the 2018 class!"

Let's just agree the JP is a head case and needs to move on.
