Some interesting stats:

ND's leading WR has 458 yards on the season, and their QB has "only" totaled 2,300 yards passing. He spreads it around, which means he either sees the field really well or he can create time in the pocket to avoid the rush and find an open guy.
By contrast, Allar has 3,192 passing yards, leading receiver (Warren) has 1,158 yards. Our leading WR, Wallace, has quietly amassed 723 yards receiving.

ND's QB is their second leading rusher, 831 yards. He has 15 rushing TDs; their lead HB (Love) has 16.
PSU's two leading rushers have both gone over the 1,000 yard mark, together they have scored a combined 17 TDs; Allar only has added 6 on the ground (for comparison). They want to run the ball and when in doubt, they appear to trust the QB to keep the ball in short yardage/goal line situations. That guy has to have taken a beating by this point in the year.

Their lead FG kicker has hit 61.1% of his FG attempts (11/18). PSU's FG kicker has connected on 82.4% of his FG attempts (14/17). That may explain why they go for it on fourth if field position is neutral or favors them, having a QB who is willing to break his neck running the ball combined with a FG kicker who is hitting just north of 50% on FGs might do that to you.

My thoughts:

This one may be on the PSU LBs to contain ND QB. Looking at you Agent 0. If they can't, perhaps you feel comfortable letting the DBs play man (gasp) and bring a spy up from the secondary. Dare I say it, drop Carter to LB and let him spy/go sideline to sideline for the whole game. If you can keep them at second and long for most of the day, they may struggle to score and will start to take unnecessary risks on 4th down and special teams. That's when the PSU offense needs to show up, move the ball, and score; not get cute and have Allar line up at left guard for a few plays.

I think ND starts off hot but fizzles out; we show up in the second half. PSU 27 - ND 17.

One of the guys in the studio (I can't remember who) was talking after the game last night saying that he thinks the difference will be quarterback play. He further explained that Drew Allar has shown he can make big plays when he needs to and that Riley Leonard has not. He thinks Penn State will win because of that. I am not saying he is correct, but it was nice to hear.

I think that the key to this game will be stopping Riley Leonard on the ground. Carter being able to play will help with that greatly.

Georgia, as badly as they played last night, really could (should?) have won that game. There was a fumble deep in there own end and a kick return that changed the entire game. I think that Norte Dame needs some things to happen in order to win. They need to force turnovers, which they are really good at, they need to win at special teams, which they are also really good at. If we don't turn the ball over and we play well on special teams, we are a better team and we should win this game.

ND’s kicker had a groin during the season. It appears to be functioning now.

ND always pulls some magic poop out if their posterior, in the form of a couple pivotal calls and timely turnovers. I don’t k is if it’ll be enough here.

James, keep the guys under control. 23 - 20.

We win the turnover battle and capitalize on a couple. And no stupid drive-killing penalties.

Tell me the officiating crew (Conference affiliation and specific officials) and then I'll give you a prediction.

I will be at the game, sitting with my old roommate and best freind from college. The game, however, will be bittersweet. I grew up in a huge ND home. My Dad was a double domer, plus two uncles and a cousin (who was captain of women's swim team and badly injured when their team bus crashed in 1992). My mother was born and raised in South Bend and she and my Dad were married in the Basilica of The Sacred Heart on the ND campus in 1962. It was in that same Basilica 2 years ago, after 60 years of marriage, where we held my Dad's funeral. He and I went to the '85, '86, and '87 games together when I was a student.... all Penn State wins!

That being said, I think we win 27-17

All this optimism? I must be in the wrong spot. This place would be a ghost town without BGJ to kick around.

Well my buddy sent me this stat, don't even know if it's accurate, but he said BGJ is 5-27 as an underdog since 2020 and hasn't won a game as an underdog since 2020! Is it time? :D

I just hope he doesn’t play it like he is a dog. Don’t go for it every time. You have the better team. Play it that way!! Run over them and find Warren and receivers on quick routes.
