what matters is the win. I do not think he literally meant folks would remember that particular TD pass 15 years from now. At least that is the way I took it.

That being the Tech and 10 year. I was a kid then, and I remember telling my mother, "We're not going to another game this year." Wise move.

Mullen meant that people will remember the game winning touchdown and forget about all the bad plays that happened throughout the game.
