Nice. My fraternity brothers were down Their summer 86 and the cost to stay with them was a case of Milwaukee’s best. 4.95 a case. Buy the time we arrived on Memorial Day they had gone through 66 cases. We stayed a couple extra days. We kept calling out of work in state college.

That's the only thing that worries me. I'm hoping it's not too much of a party scene. Those days are long gone. I just wanna chill on the beach or pool and have some seafood and boardwalk fries.

Our bucket destination trip this July will be Alaska. Should be a nice follow-up to Iceland from last summer.

One week in the 49th state, then a week cruising the western coast to Vancouver. Still up in the air about Denali. Massive rockslide has closed the main road at mile marker 43. They say a bridge needs to be built and reopening looks like 2025 at the earliest.

Any suggestions are welcome. Seward, Kodiak Island, Homer, Fairbanks? Trying to narrow down what to do with a weeks time before the cruise.

I have a beach house in OCNJ but looking to maybe take a car trip north during tie summer to Niagara Falls, Maine, or somewhere else in Upstate NY or New England. Anyone have any ideas for me? I’m up there in age and not into strenuous hiking or physical stuff but enjoy sightseeing, good food, quaint towns, B&Bs, etc. what say you AKB? Thanks

Nantucket is a nice place to visit if you haven’t been there yet .
Stowe VT is pretty . Vonn Trapp family depicted in the Sound of Music has a restaurant there that’s above average .

If you don't go to Denali, then I'd cross Fairbanks off the list. I spent about a day in there when we visited Alaska, but wouldn't put it on my list of must sees, and doubt I would have even visited it if we weren't coming from Denali.

Seward is fun if you go on one of the day cruises. Typically you'll see orcas, glaciers calving (from Kenai Fjords NP), whales, and other interesting wildlife. I think we also visited the Alaska Sealife Center while we were there, and it was interesting

Homer is pretty popular. My wife's cousin lives there, and we stayed with her, so I didn't exactly have the tourist experience. I'd highly recommend that if you go there, you book a floatplane trip from Homer to Brooks Falls (Katmai NP), to watch the bears feasting on the salmon that are jumping the falls.

We didn't get to Kodiak Island, so I can't offer any thoughts, pro or con, on that as a destination.

Can’t go wrong with a stay in the Finger Lakes. Lots of nice places to stay.

Heading on a road trip this upcoming week to Knoxville, Richmond, VA and then possibly Baltimore, Wilmington, DE, or Pittsburgh. The wife and I are scoping out potential retirement locations out of the snow belt. Anyone got any thoughts or suggestion between the last 3 spots?

Lancaster, PA. Google it for retirees. Often at or near the top. Better weather than PGH, lower taxes than MD. Doesn't snow much below the turnpike in this area. Two surveys have it #1.

Headed first to a conference in Denver with additional time visiting Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park and Steamboat Springs. Will then continue to second home in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming. After 5 1/2 weeks there, return to home in Illinois for a week before leaving for a month in Ireland. Rented a VRBO in County Galway on the coast.
If you are near Doolin, hit the pubs in the evening for the traditional Irish music that gets played. I recommend the less touristy ones like McDermott's or McGann's. The fish and chips at McGann's is outstanding.

We have already been on a Caribbean cruise, spent 10 days in Venice Fl. and 2 weeks at Orange Beach, Al. going to swim laps at Glenwood Hot Springs in June and will have a number of mini vacations to Summit County, Vail, etc. I have spent 18 weeks over the course of my life in Europe, Iceland etc and am slowing down a bit on International travel. We still love going to Glacier and Waterton Lakes Park as well as Banff so another trip to Banff and Jasper, AB is probably going to happen next year. the Canadian Rockies are incredible and Banff is such a great town.

Work. Got myself involved in a start-up venture so not much time to get away. Could be traveling to Europe, Middle East and Africa though.

Hoping to squeeze in a few long weekends here and there for fun.

Rte 100 in Vermont is supposedly beautiful - a fair number of covered bridges. So it's a good road trip. It ends at the Canadian border - so if you can, go into Canada in south eastern Quebec, and hit up some of the local vineyards. People and area are very nice.

Heading south from Anchorage towards Homer is a treat unto itself. Stunning scenery. If you can, take a side trip to Whittier - it's a very odd town, but worth spending a 1/2 day.

The distance between where we are staying in Letterard and Doolin is 99 miles. However we will be going to the Cliffs of Mohr which is much closer

Sorry, got County Galway and County Clare mixed up in my head. Did a VRBO in Doolin a while back so was familiar with it and I recall is being close to Galway city. I could live in Ireland on the West Coast somewhere.

I had suggested Lancaster to my wife and when she looked up the top things to do there she said "booorrrinng". So that's why I'm focusing on larger cities.

Heading there with the wife for anniversary in a couple hrs for a couple of days. Do it most years, couple of trips around the lakes, try different beers and relax. Something about it there.....
Yes, I never really understood the allure till I took a few camping and day trips around the lakes. Very relaxing and one of the best kept secrets on the East coast. Would love to retire with summers there and winters in the south.

Surprisingly there is more to do here than you might think. Plus 45 min to Harrisburg airport, 90 min to BWI. 60 minutes to King of Prussia. Amtrak to Philly 60 min, 3 hr to NYC . The food scene is hot. Many microbreweries. The over 65 developments with advancement to skilled nursing care are amazing. Beautiful and large indoor farmers market. Hershey Theatre 45 minutes. Lancaster has the Fulton Theatre. F&M college, Millersville, and Elizabethtown college all have activities. New high rise with upscale acommodations soon to be built by Willow Valley which is an amazing set up. Not quite sure what her interests are but plenty of people retiring here with enough money to go anywhere, and from large cities.

I was there once about 35 years ago (I was with my father and uncle who was dropping off a baseball of his to be displayed in the minor league display of the Hall of Fame). Beautiful track. I don’t remember much about it though, honestly.

Hey ! We also have both kinds of music, country and western. Also truck and tractor pulls, and Mud Sales are popular activities.
