The word in Oxford is the chaos on Saturday cracked the door for them. They just need to win the Egg Bowl and hope for more chaos this weekend.

There may be a mathematical chance for them, but it feels like this is hopium to try to keep the team together/engaged/focused for one more game.

I think if OM annihilates us and UGA gets beat by 50, there is a sliver of a chance.

Saw a quote today from an loong time OM fan stating that: "There's always tomorrow" which for you young'uns is what Scarlett O'Hara said at the end of Gone with the Wind....things never change on the plantation.

It's "possible" but it will take Tennessee, Alabama, Indiana, etc., all getting upset and even then I think Clemson and SMU are in line in front of them (assuming Miami wins the ACC).

The CFP committee has zero problems sending only 1 SEC champion to the playoffs. In fact, only 1 from each of the power 4 would be ideal.

If everything plays out like it should. Which probably will not.
3 SEC teams
4 Big10 teams
2 ACC teams
ND
1 G5 team
1 Big12 team

Will they keep the second place ACC team with only two Lose's out to get a 9-3 SEC team in? If Tenn loses Saturday what will the committee do. That would at most leave three, 10-win teams in the SEC probably only two. I don't think A&m will beat Texas. Ole Miss will have a chance if that happens, and Bama loses to Arburn.

I would take an Alabama | Texas AM | OM type over 1-loss Indiana. They’re not making the B10 championship game and their schedule has been Charmin level soft.

I think it’s possible Vegas would have Florida favored over Indiana. Almost certainly all 3 teams I mentioned earlier.

I am totally in agreement with you. What IU have going for them is they are Big10. Put them in any conference not the SEC they probably would be sitting just outside the top 12. They will get street credit for being in the Big10.

They're right about this past weekend, at least to a certain extent. Other teams' upsets certainly didn't hurt their chances. I don't think they make it, but they do have the big (at the time) Georgia win.

I don’t see a path. The problem they’re in is that they need Georgia to lose to Georgia Tech and fall to 9-3, so that they can move ahead of them on a head to head comparison. But if that happens, then all of a sudden that Georgia win they’re counting on as their next accomplishment to offset 3 losses to average teams gets totally devalued, and then 2 loss teams elsewhere remain clearly ahead of them.

There is no way on God's earth we would win. But wouldn't it be funny if it did happen that way? You never know......

I would too. But the committee won’t. Indiana is a lock. I think Mississippi chances are about 10%.

Kentucky is 4 and 7. Four. And. Seven.

LSU and Florida are unranked.

Could Ole Miss beat Vandy at Vandy? Probably not.

Sounds like a playoff team lock to me.

I don't think I would. Indiana at least beat the mediocre teams on its schedule. They didn't have any oopsies against teams like Kentucky, LSU, Florida, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, or Auburn.

Assuming A&M loses… Losses by Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee would help. 2+ losses and I think Ole Miss has a chance.

SC might jump Ole Miss, but the head to head loss could prevent that.

Good lord. We've turned into a Jr ole mess fan page, this is like the 83rd thread started about them in 4 days, and the 800th post.
You'd rather talk about OUR team? No thanks. Trying to drink enough to forget about them without killing myself. It's a fine line.

The only way UM gets in is if:
A&M loses to Texas
TN spanked by Vandy
GA loses to Tech
Missouri loses to Ark ( Ark is a much bigger win than State)
Bama loses to Aub

These are ALL upsets except Tex and A&M.

also, a SC win could give the committee their fill of 4 SEC teams and block UM

also, UM must beat State handily (4 touchdowns or more)

not a statistician, but I’m saying all these things happening is about the same chance that Margot Robbie accepts my offer to a weekend of Netflix.

Don't need to talk about ours, but definitely don't need to fawn over theirs.

I'm drinking too. All barrel aged stouts to push this time along.
Unfortunately, the best part about our team right now is that it’s all risk and no reward for the bears’ playoff chances. Beating us by anything less than 30 doesn’t move the needle or their ranking.

I'm going to get a special bottle tomorrow and invite all of you to join me. We have a bird to cook in the oven like the old folks do.
Turkey going into the brine for the grill on Thursday. Loooks like imma hit the tequila barrel aged at this point.

I'm just going to be clinching to make it to Saturday.
