Is this an individual salary negotiation or NIL committment number we're dealing with here?

Part of this announcement is so Ole Miss can tell the team that they’re close to agreeing on a new contract and he’s not leaving. Trying to kill the distraction.

Cohen will announce him next Friday. Kiffin will become the first coach in history to lead a team in the Egg and Iron Bowls in the same year.

1. Kiffin is not leaving Oxford this year probably not for the next few years.
2. If he did take the AU job, he will have had one day, maybe one, with the Tigers before the Iron Bowl. He's not leading the team in the Iron Bowl
3. Aubie fans would go apeshite if Cadillac was pushed to the curb before the Iron Bowl.

I hope either this circus is playing thru next week or we face a lame duck coach in the Egg Bowl

Tell me, how many times has there been some crazy story ciculating like this in almost every Egg Bowl?

“Lane has an extension on his desk, let’s hope Auburn doesn’t make an offer.”

CFB hires are now all about NIL. If a program with significantly more NIL funds comes for your coach, he is leaving. There is no maybe, it’s a less stressful job now, it’s not just about contract money. There is nothing more stressful than managing turnover, and guess what, the schools with the most money don’t have to do it. You find a way to pay your best players enough to keep them, or they leave and you portal shop for undervalued guys. One job is a hellscape of losing your best talent and putting in long hours identifying the ones others over looked, the other is the land of milk and honey where you tell someone to write a check.

Couldn’t happen to a more arrogant group of internet trolls. this was always the danger of going for the get rich quick Kiffin option. He’s going to burn it down when he leaves.

I’ll take the program builder.

This is where college football ends. Coaches make job decisions not based on the prestige of a program and being paid a lot, but based on how much money a school has to pay players. It’s a sport without a salary cap. It’s stupid and becoming less enjoyable.

Cross and shoe shine boy both said Auburn had not made an offer to Kiffen. How would they know if Auburn had?

Seriously, it's R. Cross, for God's sake. He's just trying to get folks to tune in to his radio show.
USA Today says Kiffin #11 but #10 is only $750K more per year than Kiffin. So, big deal, the Black Shark Land Bears could have raised him that little bit and he would have been Top 10. What an earth shattering breaking story from Dick Cross**
