I think they have been to sweet 16 once in their history 2001(pathetic). beard will match that this year. If he gets to the elite eight, I can’t imagine he is there next year. I’d throw the check book at him, but I doubt they do that.

he’s an excellent coach. Learned from the best, RMK

There might not be a job for him this cycle. But this run will have him on shortlists next cycle as well.

We’ve only been to three. And one was in a 24 team era when we got a bye to the Sweet 16.

He’s one of the best coaches out there, IU fans wanted him over anyone. I can’t imagine he will be there much longer. I doubt ole miss cares enough about basketball to really throw the bank at him and give him a huge buyout, but if they were smart they would.

a basketball school in the Midwest or out east will make a run at him.

As far as winning college basketball games, he's as good as there is right now. The only reason he is at Ole Miss is because he is a known woman-beater.

Than we have in the last 20 years.
First off his two wins since Friday tie our output in the last 20 years** so if you’re going to ***** and moan at least get the facts right.

the two wins also account for 30 % of all ncaa tournament wins in program history for ole miss. There is plenty to chicken little about but ole miss basketball is not it. Beard may be there next year but he’ll get poached by a blue blood. They also have 10 seniors on the roster and got a great draw. It is what it is.

from What I’ve read , he had a crazy fiancé who punched him in the face and broke his glasses during an argument. he should have just walked away. I don’t think there have been any other incidents. I’d hire him.

I've cashed in + ML bets on both Ole Miss games. I'll take the Ole Miss ML in the Sweet Sixteen as well.

Don't let Ole Miss win without getting paid.

Something about a fool and his money...
I'm betting the same amount for + MLs. I've already won two. I can lose the third and be up 177% of the original bet.

The worst I could have done is lose the first bet (a small amount of money I would happily trade for an Ole Miss loss).

Who cares? What do we have to show for it? Beating Ole Miss doesn’t mean **** when you don’t do anything else. I’d take losing to Ole Miss both times if it meant a sweet sixteen.
Call me when they make the Final 4.

Ole Miss will definitely pay him, it’s delusional to think they won’t. At this point there aren’t many jobs he’s going to leave for, he’s comfortable there and they will step up and get him any player he wants.
They have a great arena and great facilities. They’re quoted as paying as much in NIL as us last year, and mentioned with us again that they will be a top spender this year. People really need to let go of historical bias in the NIL era, why in the world would OM let a coach like Beard walk from men’s college basketball? It’s not like he’s the tennis coach

We have been the superior program to them for a long time and frankly have failed to capitalize on it In terms of overall success. They have a great coach fall into their lap and it takes him two years to get to the Sweet 16.

I like Jans and think he has done a good job here, but to me the conversation is different now moving forward. I don’t care if Beard is the second coming of John Wooden. If that program, which again has been inferior to us, can be over .500 in a historically strong SEC and get to a Sweet 16…. I’m at the point where I am over making excuses for why we can’t have more success.

That’s another thing that hurts to think about. They needed a new arena and built one. We need a new one and instead decided to do “improvements” because Cohen spent our money on baseball. And it is better but it’s still nowhere near good enough, we just kicked the can down the road. We are going to have to build a new one eventually.

If you are coach like Beard you aren’t going to stay at a garbage basketball program long term, and that’s what Ole Miss is. He would have jumped at the chance to go to IU. He’s going to end up at a basketball school. Ole Miss will have to really overpay to keep him. He won’t be there in 2-3 years, no way.

Basketball is the one sport where we can compete. Football, it’s just not going to happen. From here on out 6 wins and a bowl will make me happy. But basketball is different When you consider the size of the rosters we can compete. You pay for 2 great players, get another 4 good players and another 2 above average types and you’re right there.

Also basketball is where a coach can have the most impact. Knowing when to push it uptempo and when to slow it down, when to attack a certain player, when to press, when to back off, when to STOP DOUBLE TEAMING and clamp down on shooters, coaches can have a massive effect on the game in the moment. It’s why the tournament is known for all the upsets. I just feel like basketball is the sport we can have the most success at.

Ignoring historical bias, which has little value in the NIL era, what exactly makes them garbage? They have accomplished more in 2 days than us in 2 decades…

I like the Hump as a venue, but we absolutely needed a new arena. The upgrades make it look much improved and they have done a great job getting it into shape. Not many programs are building new arenas for any sport rn, especially not ones that get very little state and city support. Mississippi hurts us in many ways

You don’t pay attention to college basketball. They care. A lot. This ain’t the SadPad era.

They’ve left us behind in every sport because they are trying to compete with the SEC not us. Meanwhile the special ed folks at our school only care if we beat them. It’s so stupid. If you wouldn’t trade seasons with them, you’re just brain dead. Let them win in the Hump. Hell let them beat us 6 times in a row. If we’re having real success, I’d take it in a heartbeat.

im not comparing ole miss just to us, I’m comparing them to big ten and big east schools, ACC schools. One sweet 16 in their entire history is embarrassing. basketball is an after thought compared to football. Good basketball coaches will want to coach at a basketball school with real fan support and tradition.

This ain’t 2000 man.

Who cares about “tradition”? Coaches want to go where the $ is. Ole Miss is more than willing to pay for basketball talent.

Look at Auburn. They were a nobody in basketball until they built a new arena and hired a great coach with a checkered past.

what did ole Miss do ? Oh yeah. They built a new arena and then hired a great coach with a checkered past.
