If you're watching on one of the traditional cable channels and it's not a medal match, you run the risk that they will cut away during the match to show the medal ceremony for a different sport. To guarantee you are able to, yes. I’d like to say it’s a safe bet that they’ll show all the US matches live but Peacock takes any question about it out of play.

I'm not sure what grounds she has to appeal, in that it's in the rules, and not an interpretation error or judging error, etc.
In my opinion, I think it is a weirdly harsh rule that if you miss weight that your results for the entire tournament are scrubbed and the person you beat when you made weight is advanced. I would have thought that the results would be a Silver by DNF or something similar.
I believe both your points are valid. Plenty of time to prepare. If you are going to eat between day 1 and 2, then you had better have a plan to get down or be well under on day 1.I go back and forth on this. You can argue that 1) she picked the wrong weight class, 2) she knew for X number of years that she had to make weight 2 days, and 3) it's in the rules.
The flip side of it is that it seems unnecessarily harsh. It's as though her matches in day 1 of competition don't count, which is hard to rationalize.
My comment "I'm not sure what grounds she has to appeal, in that it's in the rules," isn't based on either of the above sentiments. It's years of dealing with athletes, coaches, parents, and fans, all arguing something concerning the rules. Sometimes we, as officials, try to educate them on the rule. Other times, especially if they are aggressive or we are exhausted, we'll just reply "that's the rule," and move on/away. Something that is repeated over and over again at referee training sessions is that we're paid to enforce the rules as they are written, regardless of whether we agree with the rule or not.
What would have happened if she withdrew due to "injury" right before stepping on the scale? She probably knew she was over weight, so if she was injured would her entire tournament have been scrubbed? Do you still have to make weight if injured and unable to complete?I go back and forth on this. You can argue that 1) she picked the wrong weight class, 2) she knew for X number of years that she had to make weight 2 days, and 3) it's in the rules.

I remain conflicted about what to do. I might consider amputating a finger, Soprano style.
Who will you want to win?I want to see a Lee v RBY match very badly. I am hoping we get it.
No, Brooks up next on mat CMan that alarm felt brutal. I have Mat A and Mat C up on some stream with no commentary. Have I missed any of the PSU/American men's freestyle wrestlers? Did I get up 2 hours early just for the hell of it?
Thanks. I will say that the ambient arena noise audio might be better than the ESPN announcers at the NCAAs.No, Brooks will be up in a couple of matches on mat C
Final was 4-3. Brooks led 4-1 late before being hit with I believe two stalling points late. Waiting on clarity there but either way he better two takedowns to his opponents zero and gave those two points up with about a second left.Brooks wins his opener.
