Went last year to see Last CWS in Rosenblatt and planned on going back this year no matter what but someone quit at work and I've had to pick up his slack so wasn't planning on going.
It was pretty damn fun, and I didn't give two ***** about any team there. Most of the downtown hotels, if available, are within walking distance of the new stadium. Also the casinos in Council Bluffs Iowa all have shuttles that run to the stadium about every 15-30 minutes. We stayed at the Ameristar Casino and the ride to the new stadium should be about 10 minutes. Its just right across the river. Multiple vendors outside on street selling everything from T-shirts to $2 beer, in cans. That was a shocker to me. I'll try to think of some more stuff and post again later.
Downtown Omaha has an older section that reminded me of western movies. Good steakhouses and pretty decent bar scene. And for the college aged folks, girls from every school in it and from surrounding areas.
Tickets this year will be sold before the games only. You will have to get in line and purchase them the day of the game because they had problems with scalpers in the past and changed that this year. Also if you want to watch both games in one day someone will have to get in line before the end of the first game to get tickets to the second game. They make the stadium clear out between games. You can also buy them on stub-hub once you figure out what game you want. Last year they allowed the minor league season ticket holders the first option to purchase tickets to the CWS, so you could buy them on stub-hub. The minor league team didn't move to the new park so I don't know if that option is still available. Only Creighton uses the new park to play.
Also, bring a light packable rain coat. Storms were popping up almost every day we were there.
