Morabito Baking Co. from Jenkintown makes some pretty good rolls for Cheesesteaks. I get them at "The Restaurant Store" in Camp Hill/Shiremanstown. I've read that they were selling some types in Costco but I'm not a member so I can't be sure. I use the Morabito Italian 6" Roll for my steak sandwiches. I purchase the thin sliced Rib-Eye at Karns in their freezer section.

The Restaurant Store is a members club but if you're not a member you typically pay about 5% more so unless you're in the food business it's not worth joining.

Ribeye is so expensive now - sliced or not sliced, boned or de-boned. I have a meat slicer and used to buy cheap boneless ribeyes (or even boneless rib roasts), freeze them and slice them. Now, it's just too much - even at Costco. Doris' Market (a great market w/ reasonable prices) has thin sliced ribeye for over $20/lb.

Kristy at Miletos in the Port sells a one pound sirloin cheesesteak for about $12 I think.

Lately, I've been experimenting w/ different sirloins and even a sous vided eye round roast. Lesser cuts of meat that can be cooked for hours at low temperature, then griddled seem to be the best ticket at this time. Also strip steaks are cheaper than ribeye and don't have to be slow cooked. Just frozen and sliced properly (against the grain).

Head over to the West Shore Farmers Market on Friday or Saturday morning and get a dozen Liscio’s steak or hoagie rolls. They are super fresh. And, if you’re not going to use them that day, immediately freeze them until use. I also get my ribeye from Karns but I order it the day before so that it’s freshly sliced.

Sliced frozen Rib-Eye (two slices per wax paper sheet) is $8.29/lb and frozen Sirloin (two slices per wax paper sheet) is $6.99/lb. About once every six weeks or so the Rib-Eye is 20% off.

I do get Liscio's rolls on occasion but the Morabito rolls last much longer so if you're not going to use them for a few days Morabito is a much better choice and they are very good.

Grabbing a few boxes of the frozen rib-eye doesn't require any pre-planning and it's the same stuff, just nicely packaged. It also enables me to take advantage of the sale price when it's on-sale.

Wow. Right now bone-in ribeye is on sale at my Publix for $11.99 (down from $17.99)
