He would go to Danver's and buy a burger. At Danver's you had the opportunity to dress your burger at their salad bar. So my roommate, known to his Architecture friends as "Toast," would proceed to make a dinner sized salad with in his burger wrapper (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, bacon bits, other veggies, the whole nine yards). Then he'd cram it all back in his to go bag and come back to good ol' Hardy Apartments and pig out.

Hardy Apartments.....those things were suh-weet.

it was between the old bakery and the cafeteria. You could get huge, great steaks in there in about 86. Moneymate was the daddy.

and it was really lousy.

I got on the "Food Services Committee" and I caught the toadies lying to the committee, they handled it by getting me removed from the Food Services Committee.

It was basically, "We want student input as long as you don't question anything we do."</p>

I partook of that option a number of times! I began to wrap my burger in a napkin and use the foil to fill with an entire salad to go. It as almost as good a deal as the Popeyes 99cent Chik Pak which was 2 pcs of chicken and a biscuit. For 2 bucks you could get 4 pcs and 2 biscuits. Do you have ANY idea how many Sundays I sat in front of an NFL game eating 4 pieces of chicken and 2 biscuts!?

Other notable cheap options back then:
Domino's 3.99 large 1 topping picked up not delivered.
Popeyes 10 piece for 4.99.
Bqwik chicken and tater logs...can't remember price but cheap and just up the street from my luxuious Canterbury Towhnhouse.
Christy's burger with the largest order of fries in history.
I hated Allbads. (Allgoods)
CJ's Pizza...you had to be near a toilet supplied with an entire roll of paper within 5 minutes of finishing the meal.
The Bully III Pub over at the Regal Inn...The Cheezy Bully was the ****.
Friday lunch at Starkville Cafe.

I'm gonna stop here...enough nostalgia related to eating my way through 5 years at State! And to make this sports related, we lost a lot of football games during my time there but I got to enjoy Jackie's first year before leaving.
