Saw the Beastie Boys at the Troc, excellent show(was very shiite faced which probably made it even better)Trocadero in Phila. Saw Zappa there
The Mann is one of the better outdoor venues right in a city for sure.Saw the Beastie Boys at the Troc, excellent show(was very shiite faced which probably made it even better)
I always liked seeing shows at the Mann Music Center, Tom Petty put on a great show back in the mid-80s, as well as the B-52s, and John Fogerty,
Saw Zappa at the Tower in Philly as well as Elvis Costello and Squeeze. Tower is another great venue.
Hitting the way back machine: The Valley Forge Music Fair that had a round stage then rotated which was kind of cool and it was a small venue. I was a wee pup back then that got dragged to shows such at Sha-Na-Na(when they were on TV every Sunday evening) and also the Oak Ridge Boys(my dad was a country music fan). I am grateful for being dragged to those shows but ya know.
Seeing a show at the Met in Philly is on my bucket list, last time I was in that building it was a drug infested place with lots of homeless and crack heads(like the scene from 12 Monkeys), worked for a non-profit that wanted to turn it into some kind of housing they could sell tax credits for.
I forgot a venue!! Rec Hall!! One of the best shows I have seen was in Rec Hall. Nick Lowe opened for Elvis Costello. It was just Elvis Costello and his acoustic guitar taking requests from the audience. Of course everyone asked for Pump It Up but he saved that for the encore and it was incredible. The Mann is one of the better outdoor venues right in a city for sure.
Saw the Grateful Dead there in 79 and 80. Hardly qualifies in my mind but glad you had a great evening of music!I forgot a venue!! Rec Hall!! One of the best shows I have seen was in Rec Hall. The old Rajah in Reading Pennsylvania is a 2000 seat venue that is great for seeing shows as well. It’s now the Soveriegn Performing Arts Center but back in the day it was the Rajah Temple. I have seen Harry Connick Jr. Ratdog, Brit Floyd, Hall and Oates and maybe a dozen other shows there back in the day.One other I hit this year was the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.
That wasn't my pic, just one showing the theatre. Tons of little gems all over this great country. Reading has one of the great jazz festivals in the country, The Berks Jazz Fest and they get a bunch of shows during that two week run every year.
The legroom is a little tight but there is nothing like seeing a show in a great theater. Possibly the best two night run I ever enjoyed was The Grateful Dead in 79 at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh which is now the Bynum.
Great pic.
See you in Bethel for DMB if the weather cooperates.
I saw Dave at Bethel years ago. I think it was 2009 or 2010. The venue was still pretty new then. We were in college, so we drove up from NYC and drove back. Wish I would've camped or something like that. Just remember that drive back to Manhattan being brutal, but it's a real nice venue. I enjoyed it.
I've seen DMB 5 or 6 times with two of them being at the BJC back in the early 2000's and the acoustics were horrible. It's funny because I'd seen a bunch of shows there while attending in the mid 90's and couldn't remember other bands sound like they were in an echo chamber. I'm sure being well hydrated must have helped out then.I saw Dave at Bethel years ago. I think it was 2009 or 2010. The venue was still pretty new then. If you’re sitting down at a concert (unless on a bar stool) you’re def doing it wrongOne other I hit this year was the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.
I might have been at that show. Beautiful venue, and I agree about the traffic. I was staying at a hotel for the night about 15 miles away, and it took a long time to get back there.I saw Dave at Bethel years ago. I think it was 2009 or 2010. The venue was still pretty new then. Amen...never sit a show.If you’re sitting down at a concert (unless on a bar stool) you’re def doing it wrong
Yep that is a good one too. Been there several times.Love the venue at the Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY. It’s an outdoor amphitheater like BB&T in Philly and Merriwether Post in DC area. Lovely setting in trees in a smaller town. It goes by the acronym CMAC which some derivative of the Constellation Brands sponsorship.
Empire Rock Club in N.E. Philly was a great venue. H'B''s used to be too. I was the Blvd Pools atone point.Saw the Beastie Boys at the Troc, excellent show(was very shiite faced which probably made it even better)
