Saw Yes at the Maryhill Winery in 2011 on the Columbia River Gorge. Very cool place, but they served only wine. Added a pic of the late, great Alan White.

Has anyone been to a show at the Caverns (home of Bluegrass Underground on PBS)? It really seems like a great venue and would like to go there some time.

Trocadero in Phila. Saw Zappa there
Saw the Beastie Boys at the Troc, excellent show(was very shiite faced which probably made it even better)

I always liked seeing shows at the Mann Music Center, Tom Petty put on a great show back in the mid-80s, as well as the B-52s, and John Fogerty,

Saw Zappa at the Tower in Philly as well as Elvis Costello and Squeeze. Tower is another great venue.

Hitting the way back machine: The Valley Forge Music Fair that had a round stage then rotated which was kind of cool and it was a small venue. I was a wee pup back then that got dragged to shows such at Sha-Na-Na(when they were on TV every Sunday evening) and also the Oak Ridge Boys(my dad was a country music fan). I am grateful for being dragged to those shows but ya know.

Seeing a show at the Met in Philly is on my bucket list, last time I was in that building it was a drug infested place with lots of homeless and crack heads(like the scene from 12 Monkeys), worked for a non-profit that wanted to turn it into some kind of housing they could sell tax credits for.

The Mann is one of the better outdoor venues right in a city for sure.

Way, way back in the day, Carter Baron Amphitheater in Rock Creek Park, Wash, D.C. I thought was a great outdoor venue. Merriwether Post Pavilion was also a good spot.

Indoors, Warner Theatre in Wash D.C. and for very small intimate setting with great acoustics, Levon Helm’s recording studio, aka The Barn in Woodstock NY.

I forgot a venue!! Rec Hall!! One of the best shows I have seen was in Rec Hall. Nick Lowe opened for Elvis Costello. It was just Elvis Costello and his acoustic guitar taking requests from the audience. Of course everyone asked for Pump It Up but he saved that for the encore and it was incredible.

Saw the Grateful Dead there in 79 and 80. Hardly qualifies in my mind but glad you had a great evening of music!

One other I hit this year was the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.

The old Rajah in Reading Pennsylvania is a 2000 seat venue that is great for seeing shows as well. It’s now the Soveriegn Performing Arts Center but back in the day it was the Rajah Temple. I have seen Harry Connick Jr. Ratdog, Brit Floyd, Hall and Oates and maybe a dozen other shows there back in the day.

Reading has one of the great jazz festivals in the country, The Berks Jazz Fest and they get a bunch of shows during that two week run every year.

The legroom is a little tight but there is nothing like seeing a show in a great theater. Possibly the best two night run I ever enjoyed was The Grateful Dead in 79 at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh which is now the Bynum.

Great pic.

That wasn't my pic, just one showing the theatre. Tons of little gems all over this great country. Love seeing and hearing about them.

See you in Bethel for DMB if the weather cooperates.

I saw Dave at Bethel years ago. I think it was 2009 or 2010. The venue was still pretty new then. We were in college, so we drove up from NYC and drove back. Wish I would've camped or something like that. Just remember that drive back to Manhattan being brutal, but it's a real nice venue. I enjoyed it.

I also did a concert at MSG last November. Definitely my favorite indoor facility. It's MSG, so every artisit you see there goes extra hard. I've seen probably 3-4 at MSG over the years. I'll always choose MSG over Philly or another major local city if given the chance.

I like the bars in the area, etc. It's a fun way to make a weekend trip out of it.

I've seen DMB 5 or 6 times with two of them being at the BJC back in the early 2000's and the acoustics were horrible. It's funny because I'd seen a bunch of shows there while attending in the mid 90's and couldn't remember other bands sound like they were in an echo chamber. I'm sure being well hydrated must have helped out then. 🤣

From the area where I live in NEPA Bethel is only an hour and 15 min. without driving on a major highway. The only thing that'll stop me from going is rain. I've been to too many shows and gotten soaked. That's for the kids. 😉

I might have been at that show. Beautiful venue, and I agree about the traffic. I was staying at a hotel for the night about 15 miles away, and it took a long time to get back there.

Yeah, we probably sat around for an hour in traffic, then had a two-hour drive back to NYC. Just remember it being a long night. Dave was great though.

Its funny with venues, or concerts in general, sometimes its the sum of the parts.
Great show, great crowd, great sound great venue etc. But that can always change depending of course.
As a kid, I worked for Concerts East who put on pretty much every show in Jersey. Stone Pony was my home base.
BTW, Stone Pony isn't one of the venues.

For me, a few stand out.

1. Forest Hills Stadium. I went to see The Replacements on a crisp autumn night. First of all, you get off the subway and you feel like you are in some English Country side town because all of the architecture is Tudor influenced. And you walked to the show with all of the police on horseback. The stadium is an old historic stadium that almost feels like an english soccer stadium from the outside. And the sound, it was just so perfect. But was the the Replacements, was it the venue, was it the crowd, was the perfect autumn night?

2. The Trocadero in Philly. I saw the Cramps there. I am sure many of you have been to the Troc, and personally, I think its (was) pretty great, old theater, with grime. The perfect place to see the cramps but the venue just made it better.

3. Webster Hall. This one, I think, was just because I saw Metallica there about 5 years ago. My friend works in the music industry and we were out to dinner one night, and he asks my wife who she has always wanted to see, and she said Metallica. 6 months later, we get a call, that he put us on the guest list for a one night special show with Metallica at webster hall. So again, venue? Band? Situation?

Love the venue at the Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY. It’s an outdoor amphitheater like BB&T in Philly and Merriwether Post in DC area. Lovely setting in trees in a smaller town. It goes by the acronym CMAC which some derivative of the Constellation Brands sponsorship.

Empire Rock Club in N.E. Philly was a great venue. H'B''s used to be too. I was the Blvd Pools atone point.
