Maybe questionable for this weekend. Beamer said he's not ready to rule him out vs Jacksonville State.

He's out in other words. That's fine. Why risk reinjury against Jax St? I guess he wants to play because his draft stock is dropping. He's a senior, correct? Can he get an injury waiver for another season?

Yeah. In theory, we shouldn't need him to beat Jax, though I don't anticipate this being an easy game. I would not play him unless he's 100% and you use this game and Vandy to warm him up for UK.

Just let him rest until Clemson. Even f we only win this one game it will take the heat off Beamer. The only reason to go the low bowl is for the extra practices and outside of the players it doesn't mean a whole lot.

We will be going into next year with a qb who has "that one pass" against Furman as experience.

A bowl, especially if rattler opts out, is like a while spring practice foe that new qb.

Beamer brought him up without questions from the media this week. Think that may mean things are trending in the right direction. I'd be surprised to see him this week, but think he'll play a limited amount against Vandy, then be a full go against Kentucky.

Heck, at this point, *******IF********, he's going to be back at any point this season, let him train, practice, practice, and just save him to be 100% against clemson!!

This season is a wash at this point. Him coming back doesn't do him or the team any good now.
Yes it does. The season isn't over. We need to keep winning. There is a difference from being 7-5 versus 5-7 or 4-8. Winning the last 4 games plus a bowl game means you can sell momentum. Winning 5 straight games is real.

Having foot surgery about ten years ago in Charlotte (Ortho Carolina), it still took over two years for my foot to heal to the point I was pain free. Being in a cast for six months was something I hope to never experience again.

Fans are putting A LOT of stock into Sellers garbage snaps against Furman. Furman.
Those two TD throws were elite throws. I know against better Ds he won’t have as much time, guys will cover better, etc…but you cannot deny that. Kid has serious arm talent.

I still say we beat UGA if he didn’t go out. They couldn’t cover him.

Not denying that at all.

But some are dismissing him going into next year without any meaningful snaps from this year like it’s no biggie to have a totally inexperienced QB. Next year’s schedule is absolutely brutal.

I don't think he shouldn't get any meaningful snaps, but telling the best player on the team that he's done so we can get ready for next year sets a mentality and culture for every single player that if we are mid season and have little/no chance at our goals, they can just give up on the season and prepare for whatever it is they see fit.

I never said to tell him he's done. I've said the strategy should be to start Rattler for a few series then turn it over to Sellers.

Your rationale would say that pulling the starters from a game when you're down 35 points in the 4th quarter is giving up. At that point, you're not winning the game, so you use the time start preparing the backups (and protect the starters). There always has to be a smart approach to pursuing the immediate goals while keeping an eye on the future. Once a goal is absolutely no longer attainable, you have to shift to preparation. If we lose another game, we're not going bowling. That's just math. It simply cannot be done. Reducing Rattler's playing time is not giving up on anything b/c there's nothing to give up on if we're out of bowl contention. At that point, it would be height of foolishness to keep playing him wire-to-wire.

Not just Furman... Sellers was getting tons of hype on TIF because of a handful of snaps in the spring game.

Not just the SG. He was a stud HS player from a powerhouse program that came in and receive rave reviews from those watching him practice. Had a great spring game, and the only time we've seen him play was literally perfect. Combine that with a great blend of size and athleticism, and appearing to be an upstanding young man, it's not hard to see why people are excited to see him.

This is what the Beams said last night on Carolina Calls:

Juice is getting closer. Like I told Juice, I had him in my office yesterday, I want what is best for him and when he is ready. He did run today and is getting closer and closer to feeling like he hopefully can be. Hopefully, that will be before the end of the season."

Getting closer is vague, though. Even if he doesn't play again until next year, he's technically getting closer to playing every day. With how this injury has been, I would not dream playing him until he's 100%. Last thing you would want is make the injury worse than it was originally and have him be limited to start next year if it lingers and lingers again.

Excited, optimistic, hopeful - reasonable
Anointing him savior of the program - unreasonable

A lot of posts were a lot closer to the second than the first.

Well, yeah. I was drawn to the last statement he made.

Memories of an injured Duce Staley before the Clemson game one year and everyone (EVERY ONE) was hoping,
wishing, praying he would somehow get in the game and tip our chances up there.

He did. We all rejoiced.

I guess the one way I'd play him even if he's not 100% is if we went into the Clemson game with 5 wins. Beating Clemson and getting to a bowl in this dreadful season would be a major win.
