One coach I'd like to see at least be considered.

I mentioned his name about 3 weeks ago. I know that he is a Cali guy and an avid surfer so I am not sure how interested he would be. However, USD is a private school with horrible facilities. There are high school fields in Mississippi that are better. They don't even have lights and had to host their regional at San Diego State last year. He may be willing to make the jump to the SEC.

They opened the season with a three game series against Texas in 2006 and 2007. They won 5 of 6 against the Longhorns.

Just for fun sake...How about <span class="vitstorybody"><span class="vitstorybody">Rob Childress from Texas AM...
That would make life in the Bryne family interesting..Son steals coach from Dad.

Interesting note about Rob Childress and another name being tossed around in Nebraska coach Mike Anderson.
Both were assistant coaches at Nebraska at the time Bill Bryne was still at nebraska and the head coaching position become open. Bill had both Rob and Mike come to his office for the final decision for the next head coaching position.
</span></span>Byrne chose Anderson.
It took Childress two seconds to respond.

"I'll never forget how he reacted," Anderson said. "He looked right at me and said, 'Congratulations, I'm going to be the best damn assistant coach you'll ever have.' "</p>and he was for 6 years until Bill hired him finally at Texas AM
