Whoever loses is 100% done for the postseason for sure. It’s not looking all that great for the winner either, but they will at least still have an outside shot.

State can still lose and have a sliver of hope. OM needs this win badly. Remember last year ole miss was 5-10 at the half way point. A loss today and we are both 4-11 in sec play and your a sweep from being right back in it.

That said 5-10 looks a lot better than 3-12.

Just glad Forsythe isnt playing

State’s problem is the schedule after the UT series….got 6 games against Ark and LSU in which we’ll be doing good to win 2. OM isn’t very good and can lose a series to anyone left on their slate, but they don’t have nearly as tough of a finish. Coming back from 4-11 is a lot easier for them than us.

But if we get to 5-10 with a win today, it’s a manageable path. Go .500 the next 4 series against 4 teams with a combined SEC record around .500. Hold serve, pretty much. Then win the A&M series the final weekend. That gets us to 13 or 14 wins.

If Ole Miss gets Elliott back and he's healthy enough to be a weekend starter, it changes the look of their club. Today is huge for them.

Right now you have a clear 6.

Then there are 7 teams with either 3,4 or 5 conference wins. These games against each other will be huge when comparing resumes at the end of the season. Also again shows how 2 hot weeks can really put you on top of that group.

Just look at TxAm. They opened SEC play 1-5, now they look to be in much better shape after playing well 3 straight weekends

Today is huge for both clubs today, as the winner of today will have the unwritten tie breaker that may sway that last sec bid.

One problem with the UT series. UT's road record - 1-8, UT's home record - 21-3. We play UT in Knoxville.

They are only 4-2 at home in SEC play and lost the last home series they played against UF. Also got swept by Mizzou, which is pretty awful no matter where it happens.

They just aren’t the same team that they have been the past couple seasons, and are only getting poll votes from dumbasses that haven’t been paying attention and have 2021-2022 on their minds. Another reason not to pay any attention to college baseball polls whatsoever, until the last one comes out.

I think there's some behind the scenes issues/turmoil in their program this year too. Which shouldn't be too surprising.

If we can’t get motivated after the a$$ whippin they gave us last year… then it’s gonna happen again…
