A late Paul Newman, and my favorite of his movies. Bruce Willis is great in this, and Melanie Griffith is spectacular (pun intended). This is one of my favorite movies; I truly cherish it.
Yes, one of my favorites. Russo does Rust Belt like nobody else. Everyday people.Another good book by Richard Russo.
I’m sorry Jim, but it’s TiVo.A late Paul Newman, and my favorite of his movies. Bruce Willis is great in this, and Melanie Griffith is spectacular (pun intended). This is one of my favorite movies; I truly cherish it.
Thank you. I had been wondering. I’m a mathematician, very used to being wrong.I’m sorry Jim, but it’s TiVo.![]()
Nah. You’re not wrong. Just don’t post a score while someone is TiVoing the game.Thank you. I had been wondering. I’m a mathematician, very used to being wrong.
lol, I have no freaking idea. “Copy this damn movie.” Does that work? There are still Tivo's out there?
For a long time, I used to say "tape" but my kids gave me so much crap about it every time, I've learned to say "record" (sadly still with great concentration to do so). Unfortunately, my wife keeps lapsing into "tape" and suffers the repercussions.lol, I have no freaking idea. “Copy this damn movie.” Does that work?
Like in any Russo book, the secondary characters are extraordinary. Margo Martindale is in it, as well. Jessica Tamdy’s last film, bless her heart. These people, they’ve lived in their small town all their lives, known everyone in town for decades. It makes for a good movie. I’m glad you’re going to be seeing it.I recorded it. Never seen it but have wanted to. It’s supposed to be really good.
The book Nobody’s Fool is well worth reading. It’s not as funny as Straight Man but I like it better than Empire Falls, which won him the Pulitzer. (My library contains every novel of both Russo and Cormac McCarthy, just those two.)Like in any Russo book, the secondary characters are extraordinary. Margo Martindale is in it, as well. I saw it above but it didn’t register. Russo’s Straight Man book was adapted for the Lucky Hank series. Yeah, this will be a good movie. Yeah, “Hud” is another of Newman’s films that remains relevant. That’s a movie I always watch when it’s on. (“Stagecoach” is another, just putting things in perspective.) Newman wasn’t the greatest actor but he never made a boring film in his life. He is a great actor in Nobody’s Fool and The Verdict.Let me add Jim - that this early Newman movie was outstanding as well:

Newman obviously went on to marry Joanne, but the beauty in the film was Lee Remick (certainly not Orson Welles). She was stunning in every scene.

Caught it last night. It’s always fun to watch it with someone who hasn’t seen it before. Terrific dialogue. Maybe it’s not a great, great film but it always hits the spot.A late Paul Newman, and my favorite of his movies. Bruce Willis is great in this, and Melanie Griffith is spectacular (pun intended). What's the matter, Grandpa?
Here is the scene you want, you freaks....
