I've mentioned before that i am primarily Irish (Catholic) and still have family outside Dublin. Two grandparents were born in Ireland and migrated to South Boston late 19th century before the Irish revolution. I mention this to give context to my deep held desire that nothing but pain, misery, and tragedy befall the House of Windsor.
My dad was born in Dorchester.

The majority of Britons support the Monarchy because they view it as something to rally the untrue country around in a non-political way.

Not my cup of tea (pun intended), but that is the premise. Other than this, the Monarchy no longer has any power.
Yeah…I know what you are sayings. However, “rally around” still seems like external affirmation (see I AM special, because I am connected to Royalty by nationality). Like you said, it’s not my cup of tea.

It is just so absurd in this century.
