OT: Fire Mike Irwin

Irwin is a reporter who covers Arkansas football. He boasts on his Twitter that he's been a sports broadcaster for 50 years. In spite of his experience, he was duped by an obviously fake quote from a parody Twitter account which claimed that Spencer Rattler said the SEC was way easier than the Big 12 and that he expected to dominate. Rattler quickly denied the obviously fake quote. Nevertheless, Irwin retweeted the quote from the parody account and has received a fair number of replies from folks piling on Spencer (though there are also replies noting that the quote is clearly fake...people ignore those replies I guess).

Gamecocks fans should be trolling this Irwin guy on Twitter big time. (If that's a thing...can you troll on Twitter? Showing my age here. I can go to Twitter to read a post but that's the extent of my expertise.)

As a follow-up, I can't help but notice the irony that Irwin claimed he knew Rattler was playing with a short deck...meanwhile Irwin was being duped by a fake quote from a parody account.

For sure. Some parody accounts can look pretty legit. This one, though, does not. For a so-called journalist to be so thoroughly duped is pretty humorous.

The annoying part, as one reply on Twitter noted, even though the comment isn't true, it'll likely be posted in opposing locker rooms this season.
