On a plane from Houston to Salt Lake typing this. Took an employee on a work trip for some training down in Houston. Stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn for a few nights and in rooms across the hall from each other.

This guy is late 30's, common law married to a gal, with 2 kids in jr high. He's definitely rough around the edges, but lots of restaurant workers are. He's also my most productive employee and I'm trying to get him up to speed to be a manager down the road Well I was.

Well last night at 1:30 am I hear a racket outside in the hall. My still drunk *** lumbers to the door and there's a chick beating on his door asking for her purse. After a couple minutes I get dressed to go slap the ho and tell him to open the 17ing door. But now she's gone and the purse is in the hall. The front desk calls me since my name/# is on the room. I go down and talk to the desk guy and security... Both Indian of course.

They informed me he wandered up a few hours earlier after buying her a bottle of wine at the bar. She's a hooker who marked him in the lobby after a John no showed. I got the manager and security guard to not call the cops and they made the ho leave. 97 lbs Indian security guard with a desert eagle sized pistol on his hip went upstairs and grabbed the purse.

Fast forward to this morning, we are supposed to meet in the lobby at 5:15. By 5:40 he hasn't shown or answered any phones so I got a key made and took Sunjay Fife up to go into the room and make sure dude wasn't dead. The latch was locked so I only opened the door enough to tell him to get his áss up. He still ignored and I said in 5 seconds I am calling the police and he's suddenly awake.

3 minutes later he wanders about and the security guy is berating him for all the trouble. Accused him of "doing 17ie-17ie with a call girl." Dude went full Pollyanna and said she just came up to his room to use his phone and when she got weird he asked her to leave and must have been in the shower when she was knocking.

I told him to get his àss in the car we had to leave. The manager stopped him and gave him shìt. I told him we'd discuss it on the 30 minute drive to the airport. I dressed him down and told him I didn't believe one second of his lies he told the security guy.

It's a 17ed up situation. I'm now going to decide if I fire him or just demote him. Not going to tell his family or anyone.

Of all the 17ed up nights in my life this is near the top of the list.. How does the pack feel about it?

Fire him….Are you kidding!? Promote that guy!

He’s a dude who knows how to get **** done. He went on an all expenses paid work trip. Got drunk. Got laid. Made everyone else deal with the problem and got a full nights sleep.

Sounds like management material to me!

So you're telling me there's still a chance for another event on the flight and/or in SLC, too?

His work is good, right?

Maybe he's not manager material. But many people behave completely differently on a business trip in a city where they know no one than they ever would at home around their circle of friends and family.
In all seriousness, this… ^

We take a huge group to Vegas every year for a convention. I think you’d straight up have to murder a hooker while wearing the company logo to receive any reprimand for what happens on that trip.

If the guy can produce then he can produce. That’s all that matters.

Sorry you have to deal with that and I know there are probably emotions involved, but you've absolutely got to fire him.

If he'd do that on a trip with and paid for by his boss imagine the **** he'd do when you're not watching. You're ultimately responsible for this dude's judgement calls at your business.

That speaks to his integrity. If that matters in his position then you have to fire him. If he needs encouragement, tell him he can still be president one day though.

Not a reason to fire. I’ve spent years on the road and some guys just lose their minds when the out of town
Remember the woodpecker from Texas who couldn’t peck a hole in the Texas tree, he went to Alaska found a tree drilled it out no problem. Told the Alaskan woodpecker man your trees are soft no way you would make it in Texas. So they flew down to Texas…the ole Texan tries a tree no luck. The Alaskan woodpecker tries same tree anyone drills a heck of a hole….Moral of the story Your pecker is always a little harder out of town

As a manager, I agree 100%. The man has demonstrated a strong ability to pass off his problems to other people. You HAVE to promote him now.

If you bought him any drinks earlier in the night then he’s not responsible, you are. If you got me drunk and then fired me because I couldn’t coach baseball, I’d sue your *** for something. Wait,,,,, what are we talking about?

Retain him. If he keeps up the drunkenness and philandering, he could be SECDEF one day.

What does the race of the owner or security guy have to do with anything other than you being a dumbass?
I didn't mention race. I mentioned nationality. Their race is Asian. I did it because they are not native English speaking and at 1:45 am after drinking half a bottle of 110 proof whiskey, I was having a hard time communicating which adds to the story.

I made fun of the security guard because he looked like a 17ing idiot. He had a big áss sidearm, a tactical style vest with 3 empty AR 30rd mag holders in the front, a backwards security trucker hat and he had to have a 24" waistline. And he said "fückie - fückie." If he had been a white guy from Belgium and looked/acted the same way, I would have made fun of him just the same.

So while you clutch those pearls, I have to ask, why do you think it's racist to call someone from India an Indian? I lived in one of the most Indian populated communities in the US for years. I know the culture well. They're proud of their heritage and would not have a problem with being called Indian, yet you seem to have a problem with it. Seems like you have such a negative connotation of Indian folks, you thank it's a slur to point out that they're Indian.

So who's the dubmass again?

Dude, it's the restaurant bid'niss, anywhere in the 'Sip, he'd be the most responsible employee.

Unless the quality of service workers up there is 1000000000000x greater than the quality down here. promote that man.

But only if he's smart enough to hire an incel to take a shot at his ear with a rifle using iron sites from 140 yards, and somehow have his base of supporters believe it was an actual assassination attempt, rather than the ingenious setup liberals know it to be.

Dude. If you fired everybody in a restaurant who put their dick in the wrong place, you would be running the place by yourself. Second, you would be inserting yourself into somebody else's marriage. Even if you don't tell her, firing him right after the trip, she is going to know what's up.

Well as a business owner, which I am guessing you're not, your employees create liability for you. I don't care that he got a hooker. I care that he did it in my hotel room and couldn't be a 17ing man and handle his ho.

I nearly had the police up my *** because an employee picked up a prostitute and took her into a room under my name and paid for by my business. The 17er wouldn't answer the door, room phone, or personal phone and I had to clean up his mess which involved a felony.

Putting your dìck in the wrong place is not what this was. My previous manager did that... Actually she was a lesbian and cheated on her wife for one of my/her employees without disclosing it. After I asked point blank she denied it. And I demoted her.

In this case, I also have 20 other restaurant employees including a bunch of high school kids that I have to consider as well. More over, the 17er lied to me. Liars cheat and steal more often than not. I have not decided what I am going to do yet, but I don't give a 17 about his marriage if he doesn't. If I feel his cons outweigh his pros on my balance sheet, I'll fire his áss without blinking.
