I keep saying I’m going to get better at golf but have not done it yet. I really enjoy hunting (deer, dove, duck, turkey), so that keeps me busy from September thru April. So I could golf from May through August but it usually gets hot pretty quick. Pretty easy to convince myself to throw something on the grill and sit by the pool during those months.
I’ve been wanting to pull the trigger on a Ducati for several years now.

I have two kids under five so I do not have a lot of time to myself, but when I can get away, I love to golf, smoke meat, and hunt Bourbon.
I also have two under five both boys. My house is never boring or quiet unless they're asleep, and if it is quiet, it means they're up to something. My wife jokes that it's a mix of a locker room, frat house, and/or a WWE event at any given moment.

I don’t really care if I get better at golf or not, I just enjoy getting out there. I play with a regular foursome. We pick up on doubles unless we just have to hear the ball go in the cup. You can improve your lie on any shot off the green. Mulligans are allowed on any errant shots. Sometimes someone will keep score, sometimes not. It’s just a way to enjoy a day.
I love those rules you outlined - that's about the best way to do it if you want to enjoy a day of golf. Because many days I have come off the golf course feeling about like I did towards State sports after the basketball game Friday, and that's no fun.

I loved mine. It was my midlife crisis. I already had a Harley but missed the excitement. I kept it a few years and decided that I didn’t need two bike so I sold it. Still have the Harley, wish that I’d sold it and kept the Duck.

We still have one guy who gets all bent out of shape if he doesn’t win. Granted he is the best golfer of the bunch but on those rare occasions that I’m playing like I know how, I can beat him.

Hello, I think it’s evident that Mississippi State sports bring us disappointment and depression and I’ve recently decided to get into different hobbies that bring me happiness. What are some hobbies that you guys have? I’ve recently started collecting old presidential campaign buttons and coins again.
I have an alternate sport that I practice instead of watching. It's running. As a matter of fact it's been my favorite sport long before now and puts following football, basketball baseball etc. way down the totem pole. And I ain't a youngster.

Storm chasing (riding shotgun as Hugh's navigator), shooting civil war cannons, traveling and starting to take up golf again.

I would rather be at the pool with a drink in hand or on a boat if the alternative is watching some jackass that hit a 3 wood 280 that one time 6 years ago with a 20 mph wind at his back wait for the green to clear on a par 5 while he's sitting 290 out. Also rather be at the pool or on the boat if the alternative is watching a bunch of hackers on their way to shooting in the mid to high 90's get everybody in their group to read a put from both sides of the hole. But slow play doesn't seem to be limited to bad golfers. I see lots of decent to good golfers play just painfully slow. If you're in a tournament, whatever. But if you are betting so much money that you feel the need to spend 3 minutes reading a putt, that means you're betting too much for your bankroll and you're a jackass. But also just generally, while the golf courses I normally play are nice, lots of the worst ones for pace of play aren't anything special as far as views. They are nice golf courses weaving through a housing development and it's not some picturesque view that much better than what you'd get at a local park.

But also it's just about being able to do something else on the day besides golf. I usually have something to do on the weekends that needs to get done, whether it's for kids or taking care of something around the house or work. If people play 4 hour rounds, I can get to the course by 8 and stick around for lunch and still have most of the afternoon to do things. A 5 hour round means even if you get there early, you're still halfway into the afternoon by the time you finish lunch. Plus that extra hour usually has you baking in the hottest part of the day, so you're actually tired when you get done, just from the oppressive heat. And for no good reason. There's just no reason to take more than 4 hours to play a round of golf if you're not in a serious professional tournament.

I will say a huge part of it is the golf courses' fault. I've seen some do 7 minute intervals for tee times, so of course those are bad. But reasonable tee times don't really fix the issue either because of slow golfers.
Well, ever since kids showed up, I’m pretty sure my handicap spreadsheet still has some rounds from 10 years ago. Basically, I’m not even going to try and play if I have other stuff to do that day.

I kill animals. Then I cook them in every way I can imagine. I also grow vegetables and eventually kill and cook them too. I gave up all of my other hobbies, except running. So I’m down to kill or run. It’s much more satisfying than MSU sports.

Other than sports ?, sort of wipes out my entire life.
I guess I'll say Handloading (but that is sports), I'd say wood working, but more handy man type stuff.
I can't just set and read.
Like they say, if I knew I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. LOL.

As I've gotten older I've gotten more and more interested in rampant steroid use and sport 17'in...

Well until I pulled all my buttocks muscles, so now I mostly just read about those things.

I lift weight six days a week. Also when I was in the Marine Corps, they had what was called a CAX table. I always got to sit through operational planning because of my MOS. They would war game on these table with micro-Armour. If you called for an illumination round and small light would drop on the table over the grid you called. If you call for, HE a red light would light up on the table on the grid you call for fire. You had 100's of miniature tanks, marines, trucks anything you could think of on a battlefield war gamming. Well, turns out you can do this in the civilian world. Not as big or with all the smoke and lights but there are groups in every state and all around the world. That's a Hobbie I do. We joke, grown men playing with toy soldiers. Here is a message board

I used to be good at golf but injuries and life got in the way for 20 years. When I retired, I was going to get a boat and seriously fish but I decided at least if I fell out of th golf cart I wouldn't drown. Now I'm realizing I'll never be good at golf again but I still love it.

Running or jogging. Cooking. I prefer tennis 10:1 over pickle ball but it’s got all age ranges that play. Def done with MSU sports. Emotionally detached since 2022. Twas a good move.
