OT: I fear for this country

Ok, forgive the length of this one.
Burger King. Star Wars toys in the kids meals. My son is trying to collect them all. Walk into a BK that has six of the toys he doesn't have. Ask the manager if i can just buy the toys...nope have to pay for the kids meals.
He walks me over to one of the cashiers and tells the young man "ring him up for 6 kids meals, but he just wants the toys, no food"
Manager walks away...
Kid: You want hamburgers or cheeseburgers?
Me: no, I don't want the food, just the toys
Kid: manager said you can't buy just the toys
Me: I know, I'm paying for the meals, just don't make the food.
Kid: But the manager said you can't just buy the toys.
Me:I'm not, I'm buying the food
Kid: You just said you didn't want the food.
Me: fine, make it cheeseburgers, but you can have them
Kid: I can't eat 6 cheeseburgers
Me: Manager!
Manager sorts it out, rings me up, tells the kitchen no food for those meals
Kid: What drinks do you want

I am glad the kid got his phone broken. However, doesn't the First Amendment give us the right to say mean things to people? Kelce should act like an adult and walk away. Surely he has heard worse from the fans in Philly at one time or another when the Eagles weren't playing well. Someone calling your brother a name doesn't give you the right to assault someone and destroy their property.My
My guess is that he wanted what happened to happen so he could get it recorded and maybe get some money out of Kelce - no other reason I can think of unless he was one of Taylors ex's

Was watching last weekend's F1 race in Brazil on the ESPN Spanish speaking channel, and one of their announcers was a female, and boy was she hot. Got me to wondering why all the Spanish speaking female announcers are so hot compared to what we get in the USA.
Too complicated for our younger crowd (with a few exceptions).

No. The First Amendment was to keep Government from imposing limits on speech. It's not carte blanche to say what you want to anyone and about anyone Without reprisal.

If it really bothered you, the decent thing would have been to politely ask to speak to the owner or the manager. There’s no need to crap all over a kid that was merely doing his job. I’m hoping the OP knew that . I am certainly not a legal scholar; but, I am shocked at how many people completely misunderstand the application of the constitution.
Last year, Penn State had to send a five page letter and set up an entire website explaining the First Amendment.
A couple of years ago I stopped at my grocery store to get some beer, chips, and cash back to head to a poker game. The cashier is a great guy but a slightly delayed. He rings up the chips fine but the beer won’t scan. He looks at me and says, “I’ll just let you have it for free”. I told him no and to hold on and I went and got the price for him to punch in manually. Completing the purchase, he sees that I want $20 cash back. I tell him I want 3 $5 bills and 5 $1 bills. He gives me 5 $5s and 5 $1s. I tell him that I only needed 3 $5s and give him two $5s back. He then hands me 2 $20 back. I then think to myself, “Screw poker, I’ll sit here and play cash register slots all night” but I hand him back the 2 $20s and tell him that we’re now even. He laughs at me and says, “I guess I’m getting a tip then”. I just told him to have a good evening and went to poker to drink heavily and try to make sense of the interaction.
That’s an easier one; if you’re looking for a real gas, ask for a third of a pound (1/3lb.). I learned that one by surprise; wanted more than 1/4 but less than 1/2, therefore 1/3. Maybe I’ll try asking for 4/9 of a pound, someday; when you’re really looking for just a bit less than a half a pound. No, that would be too cruel.
I had the same thing happen. The cashier had to call over a supervisor and they used a calculator.
I remember seeing a group of young people gathered all smoking getting high and thought their counterparts in Japan may be working on physics and calculus at the moment, and yes, I yell at clouds too.

The more you work at math the easier it gets. Believe me when I say that students who study mathematics on Saturday mornings don’t find this to be a chore. It really is the most fascinating subject, I always have a problem in my head. I am now now working on Inner Product Spaces, fascinating stuff, algebra was my speciality.

I know nice reasonable people who believe the moon landings were faked. I waste a fair amount of time watching Bravo reality shows and there’s this educated person, a law school graduate, who believes that pandas are fake and what we see are people dressed in panda costumes. Probably a LOT more people believe the US orchestrated 9/11. I was just reading something somebody regurgitated about not finding any airplane parts at the Pentagon site. Dude, there is actual video and eyewitness accounts and descriptions of the plane.
Same here - I say 1/2 past 1/4 after or 1/4 of and they just saw I don't know what that means and I have to saw 15 minutes after etc. Drives me nut's.
I was proficient, not great in math. My PSU ECLBS degree was heavy on stat and econometrics - and that was gained at age 34.
Algebra always seemed like common sense to me. Past that in math, my mind would rely on memorization (w/ some level of understanding) to get through. Econ 400 level classes even in the late 90's were no picnic. But I made it through somehow. For what reason, I'm not sure yet. I took Algebra II as an elective and never missed a question the entire semester.
