Yep. DEI "could" be it in certain situations. I've had discussions with my ICE buddy and he bitches about talent all the time. It can be a self enforced error. Really stupid policies. But the quick assumption by some people that the bad things happened bc an unqualified minority got hired is just telling on yourself. How would you even know being a distant observer?
If it were me making the rules and I wanted to make the most people happy (or piss off progressives and racists) I would do this:
1) define appropriate non-race/gender qualifications and make it the same for everyone (aside from reasonable accommodation stuff for jobs not involving public safety)
2) look back and see which demographics are underrepresented for your community
3) make a genuine active effort to recruit those demographics
4) hire if they meet #1. Pass if they don't
5) if you don't increase your underrepresented demographics after doing this, tell the story and push it back on the community (ie why aren't there enough qualified [demographic] applying for my job?) if your work force demographics are challenged. Don't fix a problem on the back end. Find out what's causing the under representation in the first place. Take care of that and problem goes away naturally or you find out that certain demographics just don't want certain types of jobs. That's not necessarily a bad thing as long as it's a choice and not certain qualified people being excluded for non-work reasons.
Easier said than done but that's at least an honest approach.

I submit that a large part of JPD's hiring problems come from the joke that is the Jackson court system. Who in their right mind would risk their life on a daily basis to arrest dangerous and violent people that will be out on the street again before the police can even fill out their paper work ?

Or you could do it like a company I used to work for. Say the next candidate hired will be this sex and this race, when nobody qualified applies, hire someone totally unqualified and put them in a department and tell the rest of the department to do their best to make them look good. Then chastise the group regularly for not accepting the additional work because, diversity.

This implies that: 1) There are no training rules/tests that must be passed to become a pilot? or 2) there are lots of rules, but there is some way to avoid them if you are a minority?
I'm very interested in hearing about how pilots who "...should not have been in a cockpit of a simulator much less an actual plane.." got there. It sounds like some of his friends had to share a cockpit with those people and didn't like it, but I am completely open to an explanation as to how all of the rules and requirements for becoming a pilot are being subverted. I'm sure it is a compelling conspiracy for sure.
It is probably just as logical as a party not in power somehow stealing an election in 2020, getting in power, spending 4 years bringing in illegals to vote for them, and then deciding that they really felt sorry for ole Don and wouldn't steal the 2024 election when they were in power.

I was simply asking a question and rebutting goat’s unquestionable knowledge with a fact and statements from people I know. The airlines were moving to DEI and moving experienced (and highly paid) pilots out. It’s also amazing how none of you can actually admit that DEI is not a good thing.
