This is how bad JPD is. My son got hit by an 18-wheeler on Jan 29th. It was a slow impact so no injuries. My son did not have his insurance card. The officer issued a ticket and told him all he has to do is go down to JPD once the ticket has been turned in with proof of insurance and it will be thrown out basically. The ticket has no court date or anything. The accident report stated he did have insurance, the name of the company but no policy number. I have been calling every week since to see if the ticket has been turned in. Here it is March 28th, and the ticket still hasn't been turned in. When I call the lady today, she said officers are required to turn in the ticket. She said keep calling back every week. There has to be a timely ending to the situation. What would you do?

My last ticket was in Morton. Officer asked me why I was in such a rush. I told him & admitted it was no excuse. He wrote the ticket. Called every week until the court date but he never turned it in. I’ve renewed my license since then so I don’t think there’s an outstanding warrant against me or suspended license.

I would be proactive and take the ticket plus proof of insurance to JPD and have them deal with it there. Officer could have been fired or quit or all kinds of things hence why the ticket hasn't been turned in yet. Ask to speak to a supervisor when he goes and get a copy of whatever they do just in case it isn't recorded.

Call and speak to chief Wade........for all things wrong with Jackson (I am a life long resident), Chief Wade does actually give 2 17's. Be Nice, and ask for him to return your call and call every day and ask for him.

The issue that exists in Jackson is straight up the ill and incompetence of the Lumumba Admin.....jackson has actually got alot, and has had alot of qualified and good people that simply get fed up with the leadership.

Other than asking for Chief wade, go to the actual precinct and ask to see that precincts commander

Everybody needs to have a picture of every card you may need on your phone just in case, for reasons like this because how often do you leave your phone at home?

I've got front and back photos of health insurance, dental and optical insurance cards, car insurance, SS card, even the library card, and all of those retail cards like Kroger, etc. I don't even have any of them in my wallet anymore except credit cards and I use Google Pay and others like it for most of those purchases so may not even need the CC's in the future. If you lose your wallet you've got photos of everything and makes cancelling and reporting a lot easier. I keep the photos in a secure app on the phone too so they can't be seen w/out a password, 2 passwords actually.

I did ask her about that, and she said they would not accept it. The officer has to do it.

Here's what nuts. My son called me, and I was sitting in the dentist chair. I called the insurance office, and they sent a photo of the card to my son, but the officer would not wait.

Using certified mail send them a copy of the citation and proof of insurance. When the proof of delivery card is returned staple all of it and put it in a file.

I still would try this but just with someone higher up than her. From my experience the people working the desk there aren't the most qualified

Chief Wade is a great guy and definitely does his best despite being hamstrung by the city administration…

But he deals daily with shootings, murders, etc. Maybe don’t fill up the man’s voicemail over an insurance ticket that probably won’t ever be turned in, unless you absolutely have to. Instead, call the precinct and ask for the officer. Then if you can’t get him, ask for his sergeant or lieutenant.

I had issues renewing my license in Louisiana that turned out to be for a ticket from 20+ years ago in Oxford. To further complicate matters, 1. It was in my name but my brother's SS#, B. thr vehocle in the citation was not a car either of us or our friends owned, and third the traffic incident never actually happened.

To give credit where it is due, the Clerk I spoke to in Oxford was very kind and agreed to toss it out. She said they had changed the program they used for traffic citations and that perhaps this had gotten messed up when they migrated their data.

I had a similar incident happen to me while I was a student at state. I called numerous times and kept being told the ticket was not on file. My mom called one day saying she got a letter mailed to the house saying my license was suspended for failure to pay the ticket. Turns out the ticket has my name misspelled and the birthdate at 1956 rather than 1986. Look at the ticket very closely and make sure all the personal information is correct.

Sons if you guys are making this a lot more complicated than it is. If he didn’t turn the ticket in, it doesn’t exist. There’s nothing to pay. Move on.

When I call I give them the ticket number.

Be careful with presenting digital evidence of insurance. Pulled over by the illustrious JPD on Lakeland and presented my insurance card via my insurance app. Officer said “cool” and proceeded to write me up for no proof of insurance. When I called and asked they said “some officers accept digital proof, others don’t.”
No standardization, laughable. Just be wary

Sorry, sir, we only accept proof of insurance printed on laminated card stock or $50 bills
