Reported that Tarantino convinced Olyphant to ring up the folks putting together City Primeval as its own show to suggest making it a season of Justified instead. Thank you Quentin!
She's a punk. I'm sure the show will provide a good comeuppance to her this season. My biggest issue is his daughters total lack of instincts. That and her indignant attitude towards her dad. She talked more bratty schit to her dad in 2 days than both my sons talked to Jane in their lifetimes. Really annoyed me. Also I never expected more than a formulaic money grab show and I’m completely cool with it, so happy Raylon is back at it.

I checked: Raylan Givens is not in the City Primeval book. Finally finished the first two episodes - maybe some ***SPOILERS*** for those who haven't seen the show....

First, really love seeing Olyphant back as Givens. Just an iconic, natural role for him that is very effortless at this point. I don't know that I love putting him in Detroit - this could have very easily worked in a more rural setting which is one of the things I loved so much about the original series; just way more interesting characters and opportunities to tell these smaller, less obvious stories than what you get with cities. Oh - and as wonderful as Raylan is, he really misses the outstanding supporting cast he had in Justified - Boyd, Ava, Winona, Art, Wynn, Dewey, etc. - they added a ton to the show and are sorely missed. Anyway....
I think it's 'fine' and probably going to get better - they sort of downplayed Raylan's 'badassedness' until the very end of the second episode. He's a fish out of water in Detroit, but then again so is the 'bad' guy, Clement Mansell (the Oklahoma Wildman). I generally like Boyd Holbrook and he's solid here a scummy criminal (along with his cute sidekick Sandy, played by Michelle Williams clone Adelaide Clemns - pic below!) but he's not as clever or as intellectual as Boyd Crowder and appears to want to 'out-Raylan' Raylan. The hamfisted way they got our two leads together is one of my biggest gripes about the storytelling - it's so poorly conceived it's hard to believe they would allow Elmore Leonard's name to be attached. For the record, Clement going to his lawyer's office to have her call Raylan in, while he's there, to tell him to stop harassing her client, just after Raylan and the other detective visit Clement's hotel room (where he hid), MAKES ZERO F*CKING SENSE. Neither does Raylan's daughter walking through the worst part of Detroit after he tells her to stay in her hotel room (were all the empty factories this some kind of commentary on the manufacturing giant Detroit used to be? My thought when she picked up the old Pontiac logo....). And, not to be mean, but her voice sounds like a muppet. It's hard to believe it's real!!
Anyway, will obviously watch until the end and I trust the Justified crew to nail this, but it's clunky and obvious that Raylan was not part of the original City Primeval story Leonard wrote. They jammed him in for the show and you can tell. Hoping we pick things up a bit this week!

Sometimes you’re too easy, my dude. You misspelled Raylon math boy
Olyphant, on the Rich Eisen show, indicated he had talked to Quentin Tarantino on the set of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, about taking pieces of Leonard’s novel, City Primeval, and developing a story for the Raylan character. Tarantino was actually going to make a film from City Primeval. May be the reason it is a little clunky, however, it’s only two episodes in and I throughly enjoy Olyphant in this role. Will be an 8 episode season so only 6 more to go. We shall see if Raylan continues after this. Finally finished the first two episodes - maybe some ***SPOILERS*** for those who haven't seen the show....

If you want more Walton Goggins, check out his work with Danny McBrideI’m going to miss Boyd.

On the HBO Series, Vice Principals and The Righteous Gemstones
He’ll always be Boyd to me. God, so many great characters in Justified. Boyd, Ava, Mags, Loretta. Margo Martindale was even better in The Americans, how is that even possible?
Based on the Jack Ketchumns' novel?I’m so psyched for the 18th! I’m watching Girl Next Door, in part because Olyphant’s great portrayal of Kelly.

I watched the movie yesterday, horrifying, will make your
blood run cold
I have a hard time hearing what she is saying. Her voice is too high and soft. Episode 3 was kind of weak.As long as the daughter stays away from now on, I will consider it an improvement.
from the previews, I think he does....4 was great but I’m hoping raylan doesn’t bang the attorney. Gross

Not really buying that story line, and Olyphant's daughter is awful. I loved the Justified series and have read most of Elmore Leonard's books. This series has been really disappointing so far.from the previews, I think he does....
The daughter was out of the last episode. It was better. Addition by subtraction. Not really buying that story line, and Olyphant's daughter is awful. I loved the Justified series and have ready most of Elmore Leonard's books. This series has been really disappointing so far.
I am having a hard time seeing how this wraps up in 2 more episodes. The big mystery is, why does Clement seem to be a step ahead? Someone is feeding him information. Hey it is better than the Real Housewife's of Atlanta! How are we feeling gents? Sadly, I’m very ‘meh’ on things so far and no matter the resolution will probably feel the same at the end. Big issue for me is Raylan’s massive lack of swagger. He dripped it on the original series - if you didn’t know about him, you were gonna find out. He’s so tame and whipped here. The romance with the attorney is so contrived and unbelievable - I can’t recall a time Raylan so carelessly compromised himself on a case save the one time he helped return some stolen cash for Winona. Clement is so pedestrian and basic he would have been shot dead in five minutes in Harlan (probably by Boyd). I did like Sweety and think most of the actors are fine, but this just isn’t working for me the way I’d hoped. I think the lack of other well known supporting characters and a parallel secondary story are ruining things. I’d love to see them give Justified another limited series, but would have to be set closer to home and include some familiar faces…

You guys are way overthinking and analyzing this show. Just enjoy seeing Raylan again and know he will blow the brains out of that prick, Mansell.

No, it will be Raylan's daughter.Prediction: Raylan will not be the one to ice Mansell.
Pillow talks him to death? No, it will be Raylan's daughter.
Liking it so far. Not as compelling as Justified but few are. That is top 2 of stream for mHow are we feeling gents? Liking it so far. Not as good as Justified but few are. It was top 3 of streams for me. While the attorney thing was cringe, I thought it showed how Raylon is either super lonely, primal or calculating. Not sure which, maybe all 3. Saw it coming but didn’t believe it would come, then can’t look away. Lol. like others, miss the cast of characters and the rural setting. Nice twist though. How are we feeling gents?
