Are you Canadian? Not for those prices!
I bought a Ram hybrid with a hemi before covid and a Z21 Nitro before covid.
If I had waited 1 or 2 years later I never could have afforded it.
Glad I bout them when I did.
Kudos to you for actually knowing this. It's amazing how few people realize it was Obama's EPA that made the rules creating bigger and bigger trucks. They literally can't make small trucks anymore since they'd never pass the fuel efficiency requirements with their wheel base.I have a 2017 Honda Ridgeline which is basically an 5 seat SUV with a truck bed in back. It rides like an SUV instead of a truck.
I used to have a Ford/Mazda Ranger with extended cab (2 pull down seats). With the updated Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) requirements, it’s difficult for manufacturers to build small trucks.

I saw a new Tacoma the other day that looked to be about the same dimensions as my 2008 Silverado 1500.Kudos to you for actually knowing this. 122k for a truck ???
And lets be honest a good percentage buy these just to drive around in, with the occasional big load from Home Depot/Lowes
If I'm dropping that kind of cash for a vehicle (and I wouldn't), my sights are set on high end luxury, Benz, BMW, etc
I'm at the point where I seriously doubt I'll ever own another new vehicle. I'm almost 54.Good lord, I can't fathom putting that much down on a vehicle. That's a considerable chunk of my mortgage.

I have a friend who drives a Toyota iForce MAX Tundra pickup. It's a very nice truck with all the amenities. It makes gobs of low end torque. He's tired of it and wants to trade. It's "too big", hard to park, not as fuel efficient as you would expect from a hybrid, etc. He just gets bored with cars and says having a new one makes him happy. I asked him how many vehicles he's owned in the past 11 years (the time I've worked with him). He lost count at 6. I've owned the same truck all that time. I asked him why he doesn't at least sell his truck instead of throwing good money after bad trading. He said he doesn't want the hassle. I too can't fathom spending this much on daily drivers.
Which is why I said I wouldn't.Good lord, I can't fathom putting that much down on a vehicle. That's a considerable chunk of my mortgage.
We bought a minivan a couple years ago and I really wrestled with paying $40K for a new car. Never had purchased new, but with the market, there really was no difference in low mile used and new prices. Can't imagining tripling my anxiety.
I'm 30 and have owned one truck. I bought a 2004 Silverado in 2011 for $7500 with 24,000 miles on it. I'm still driving it today, even after totaling it in 2012. Owner retained salvage for the win! It's got 240,000 miles on it now and just keeps on trucking.Gracious, I'm 46 and have owned about 6 cars my entire life (2 were lost in accidents due to the recklessness of youth). I otherwise drive my cars into the ground.
"He doesn't want the hassle..." that's like buying new underpants instead of washing the pairs you already have.I'm at the point where I seriously doubt I'll ever own another new vehicle. I'm almost 54.

Funny you should mention that. After my dad died I was cleaning his house. He had packs of new underwear and socks. He had a pile of 17 pairs of identical Lee jeans in the floor of his bedroom. It was as if he had planned to never do laundry again. So I guess there are people with this mentality, though this is on a much bigger scale."He doesn't want the hassle..." that's like buying new underpants instead of washing the pairs you already have.
And look at all the money you have to use for other things! I don't see why the guy just doesn't lease! I've got a 2012 Jeep Laredo 160k, now I don't drive it much cause I work remote, but it serves a purpose and I don't have some enormous car payment, which is nice!I'm 30 and have owned one truck. Isn’t a 4 liter large for a Ranger?2011 Ranger...200,000 miles...$70 a year tax, 4.0 liter...great vehicle
I imagine it would have taken quite a collision to total a 2004 Silverado! Glad you were able to get it back on the road. Yep, I smoked the back of a car waiting to turn left into a gas station. The station had one of the signs where the price changes from cash to card and back, so I had been watching that instead of the road. By the time I saw the car I had no chance to stop. The responding cop must have felt sorry for me because I didn't even get a ticket.I imagine it would have taken quite a collision to total a 2004 Silverado! I always avoid stations with different prices.Yep, I smoked the back of a car waiting to turn left into a gas station. I had a great body shop, and they did a great job fixing the truck good as new. I ended up making money on the deal (though I paid it back with higher insurance rates, of course)!
