OT: MY AOL EMAIL HACKED, HOW?

Yesterday, I started getting emails and phone calls from people on my contact list in response to an email purportedly from me asking for help. The email said it was from my email address, but the reply was to another email. When people clicked it, they got a request for money. I checked my contacts list and it disappeared, but I was able to restore it.

I do not use WIFI on my PC, it is hardwired, so was my PC hacked or did someone get into the AOL site? I don't visit strange sites and use Norton. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

An update, if interested. I checked security on AOL and see someone from Nigeria set up access and removed my phone number from the account. Ba$tards. Could be related to the AOL hack some time back and they are just getting around to my account.

You need to be concerned about every other account that may use the same password. You should go ahead and change all of your passwords. Every site, account, etc should have a unique password. You might want to take a look at those security questions too. Seriously consider two step verification so that you get an alert anytime someone wants to log in. If you plan on saving passwords with Google, etc make sure your sign on is very secure.
