I haven't followed the NBA closely not since the Spurs team concept on offense was winning NBA titles, so I was wondering which current NBA players are locks to make the Basketball Hall of Fame: James, Durant, Curry, Harden, Westbrook, others?

There's always so much discussion about former non-steroid, non-gambling MLB players that belong in the Baseball HOF such as Fred McGriff. Who is considered the biggest slight to not be in the Basketball Hall of Fame?

That’s an interesting question. I am sure there are many and I don’t know who is in and who is not in close to the baseball HOF. I am pretty sure he isn’t in but Lou Hudson was a really fine player in the 60’s and 70’s. Smooth player who could score.

Gail Goodrich had a fine college and NBA career and played on some great Lakers teams including one viewed as the best NBA team of all time.

Those are two I remember who I don’t believe are in.

Goodrich is in, Hudson is not. Hudson had one of the prettiest shots ever.

Thanks Jim, I didn’t look it up (obviously). I was a big Chet Walker fan and I think Hudson certainly was the player that Walker was. I know Walker is in, Hudson should be in too (IMO of course).

Definitely Chris Paul. Though he had several back-to-back amazing seasons statistically, I'm less certain of Russell Westbrook

Agree on Paul and Westbrook though I think Westbrook averaging a triple double for a season puts him in

Haven't followed basketball closely since Barkley was still with the Sixers, but a quick check of top players not in the HOF says:

Chauncey Billups
Tim Hardaway
Shawn Marion
Rasheed Wallace
Shawn Kemp
Marques Johnson
Kevin Johnson

I remember reading an article one time where Kiki Vendeweghe described a practice when he first got to UCLA. Said it seemed that Marques Johnson blocked every shot he took and dunked on him every possession. Said he thought he might be in over his head a bit.

There are a lot of guys in the league who are locks for the HOF, most are older players such as the ones you listed, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Jimmy Butler, etc. There ae also a ton of players who appear to be HOF locks but just need to put in a few more years of service like Giannis, Embid, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jocic, Anthony Davis, Demar DeRozan , before the have a HOF resume.

All good players, none deserve to be in the HOF. Marginal at best.

What is the criteria? Make the case for Chris Webber (in recently) over Chauncey Billups or Tim Hardaway. For reference, a 2019 article had Webber's HOF chances below 15% (and Billups at 84%).

I have no vote. My criteria is my eye test, my memory and my opinion. I don't spend much time thinking about the NBA HOF.
