This time in relation to denying Manhattan Jaspers basketball player DeJuan Clayton an 8th year of eligibility. The judge ruled that denying his eligibility would have detrimental effects on his pro prospects and NIL opportunities. He's 26 and not an NBA prospect (by comparison, 5x NBA all star Luka Donkic is 25. 2x NBA MVP Nikola Jokic is 29). He will get to play in their final 5 games of the season (now 2) plus the MAAC tournament. Notably, he played in 9 games at Cal last season, so not sure how the judge disregarded that.

I don't really see the aspect of harming his NIL opportunities of a 26 year old bench player.

Nevertheless, he makes history by becoming the first player in NCAA history to play in 8 different seasons. Dude for Miami Hurricanes was granted a 9th year of eligibility, but he missed 2 seasons altogether, so he will only play in 8 different seasons.
