Not much to talk about with Gamecock football right now. Found this quote from Norvell puzzling to say the least.

"Looking at DJ, obviously, it’s been a challenging start for everybody. It takes 11. We all have a job, we all have a responsibility. I think when you look at the game, there were some things that DJ did really well in putting guys in a position and trying to give opportunities. But there were also a few times that we had some missed opportunities on his part, in our overall execution. I am pleased with the way that he’s preparing. I am pleased with the things that he’s doing. You see the moments where he’s giving us a chance. He’s giving us an opportunity to have big plays. I thought there were a lot of the reads and things that he needed to do and the position where he needed to put the ball that was positive."

The article asks the right question: Is Norvell watching the same team the rest of us are?

Have to wonder why he's so irrationally defensive of, and devoted to, a 1-year portal QB. Their passing game has been, in the assessment of pundits, an unmitigated disaster. You'd think at this point he'd at least have made the obligatory coach speak comment regarding QB "we're going to re-evaluate every position".

Reminds me of the clemson staff defending him while he was stinking up the joint up there.

What is it about this kid that makes staffs go to such lengths to deny what everyone can see?

I guess I sort of understand the Clemson situation as he was still potentially developing as a QB. He had flashed a couple a of really good games for them when he had to start in 2020, then didn't look nearly as good in 2021 when he became the starter so he got 1 more season, but then Dabo flushed it after 2022. Dabo realized 3 seasons ago that DJ is who he is.

For Norvell to be doubling down at this point, with DJ in his 5th year and all of FSU's preseason goals now in the toilet, is baffling. At this point, they are simply hoping to earn a bowl bid.

They have a true freshman, Luke Kromenhoek, who was highly regarded as a recruit. With where the season stands, I can't see the rationale in not giving him a shot and start developing for next year. DJ is 0-3 and has been disastrous. What is there to gain? He started the Memphis game 5/5 passing for 7 yards.
