Per an ESPN report, there was 'fear among Florida State officials was that Norvell was close' to leaving FSU football to replace Nick Saban.

I enjoyed the article but was disappointed ESPN did not dig in to the reports of DeBoer not being 100% direct with his team leaving UW. Would have been an interesting contrast to the Saban quote in the article where he insisted his team hear about his retirement from him, no one else.

There was already a bunch reported back when Deboer left and some it was posted on here. He apparently never actually told his team he was leaving for the Alabama job, even in their meeting (audio was posted on here somewhere). He said all kinds of things indicating he was leaving but never point blank said it.

Well, the story is primarily about Norvell almost heading to Bama. It’s like those reading comprehension passages on standardized tests, and they would get to the end and ask you what the story was about.

Besides, I don’t see anything that said Kiffin almost left, only that he is the one FSU was targeting.

He was at Tennessee for 1 season. SoCal for 4 season, Bama for 3 seasons and FAU for 3 seasons. He has now been at Ole Miss for 4 seasons and is coming up on his 5th, so it's understandable that folks are expecting a change. He hasn't exactly demonstrated sticking power.

Read another, fuller article on the Bama search yesterday. Seems like the Norvell thing was pretty close to happening. Close enough that FSU was getting their short list together. According a Bama source quoted by Low, Kiffin and Swinney were contacted, but were not in serious consideration as first-choice candidates. Also, Bama never felt Sarkisian was leaving Texas.

That's just not true. FSU is the blue-est of blue bloods, and no one would EVER consider leaving FSU...except Jimbo but they wanted him gone anyway.

I think we all need Kiffin at FSU. That would be great. The only thing that would be better for CFB would be Prime at FSU. I have to wonder if all this ACC fighting might have soured Kiffin on them? While I don't think FSU is as big a deal as some on here do, they're a much bigger deal than OM.

You have misconstrued my post. Again I make no mention of FSU, but I mentioned that Kiffin has an exroridiany propencity to have his name mentioned for any opening of consequence.
