The two teams I most often hear as mentioned as the greatest MLB team of all time are the 1976 Cincinnati Reds and the 1998 New York Yankees. Who would have won a 7-game series between the two?

Yanks were incredible. My buddy from the Bronx was obsessed with that team.

The Yankees.
The 1998 Yankees had a record of 114-48. The 1976 Reds were 102-60. By record the Yankees were 12 games better. That is significant.
Offensively I give the nod to the Reds. The Yankees pitching was better than the Reds by a wide margin. The Yankees also had better overall depth.

The Reds played on turf, a different game. The Royals (Hal McRae and Willie Wilson) and the Reds were outstanding on turf. Just throwing this out here without attempting to tie it to something deeper.

Nice comparison. Seeing the best 2nd baseman, the 2nd best shortstop, and the best closer ever in the same series, nice.

The Yankees because they would be, on average, 22 years younger.

Rogers Hornsby, lifetime BA .358, may have been better than Joe Morgan.

Agreed. Cone, Wells, Mendoza, El Duque, Irabu and Mr. Clutch Andy Petite. Their pitching would have held up in a series with a great Reds team enough to allow the offense to take over. Brosius was insane in October and he was maybe the 5th big bat in the lineup. Unstoppable in '98. 4-2 Yankees

Hard to say, so I'll throw a vote in for the 1994 Penn State Nittany Lions.
