Define underrated.

Number one album, number two single, in Rock n Roll HoF...
Fair point but I dont think that many people know that about them and what influence they had.

I’ll submit a couple:

- Urge Overkill (massive wall of rock & roll sound, should have been a much bigger act)

- Siouxsie and the Banshees drummer Budgie (I dare you to listen to ‘Cities in Dust’… Budgie is lit )

- Gary Moorereal guitarists know who he is

- Robbie Blunt (guitarist on Robert Plant’s first three solo albums - ie. the good ones)

- The Donnas - a better all-girl rock act has yet to emerge … guitarist Allison Robertson is a tremendous player , and she’s incredibly hot

Mickey Dolenz was one of the best vocalists of the 60s and 70s. He immediately comes to mind as an underrated rocker. He got submerged in the criticism of being part of one of the first manufactured boy bands. The truth is he was largely responsible for giving them their sound.

I always liked this -

Good list.
Love Budgie and Souxisie Sioux as The Creatures.

I would say the Kinks. I actually had a Twitter convo about them with Steve Van Zandt (yes that one, he is very chatty) a couple of weeks ago. He agreed Underrated.

the kinks?!?!? UNDERRATED?!?!????
YGBFKM

Dude, they are early enshrinees in the (of dubious merit) RRHOF , and widely recognized as hard rock pioneers and a keystone of popular music

I am not good at understanding the numerous sub categories of music.....so i'll add some of the bands my concert queen daughters drug me to....wasn't going to let them go without me.
Matchbox 20...Incubus...Korn (especially their family values concerts)...Stone Temple Pilots...3 Doors Down...Staind (first time saw them in Kingston,Pa)...Deftones...Limp Bizkit...Train...Rainbow...finally one for me....Moody Blues. We bought season tix for the new amphitheater when it was built at Montage and back then many bands would perform there as a dress rehearsal before going on their tours. As a banker i got to meet many interesting people.....one day a couple came in needing a mortgage, they had been try for months but couldn't get one....their credit was fine....told them to bring me necessary items and be done in 3 weeks. Two days later i get a bag full of pay stubs...from Brown Houston Corp which i had never heard about...2 stubs from NY...2 from Mich...1 from Pa....3 from Calif and stubs from all over. Turns out he was in charge of security for Bobbie Brown and Whitney Houston! For some reason no one bothered to understand his work and how he was paid from each appearance. He had some amazing stories and when we closed it was like i had given them some miraculous gift. My daughters had incredible seats from that point on!

I don’t know the standard for ‘underrated’ since it’s subjective, but Skid Row put out two bangers when they were popular and IMO they’re the second best act of that era from that genre (GnR #1). But, they faded fast and are hardly thought of much.
