Exactly. I love people who complain about how other people invest their monies but don’t understand the problem at hand or engage in the solution. Wawa is likely going to locate outside of the Borough of State College and will take advantage of the changing demographics of the state college area. That is not Wawa’s problem. State College Borough has a master plan which they are executing against. If people are concerned about downtown, get engaged to find a solution.OK but that is not the fault of Wawa or Sheetz. They have a business model and that model needs space that is not found downtown.
You need to push your local planning and zoning boards and Borough Council to get the businesses back to downtown.
They're adding a Wawa in Scranton and another on Market Street in Kingston (across the River from Wilkes-Barre). No more boundaries! There's one at Great Bend, PA between Binghamton and Scranton on I81
Oh absolutely!! Whenever we’re back in the area we load up with Wawa essentials. My wife swears by their milk…we bring a cooler so it survives the trip back to RI. People up here think we’re crazy for raving about a convenience store.lol, I was at a soccer tournament in the past year, and upon leaving it went to a Wawa. There were some kids there that were having some trouble with the order screen, and I decided to help them. After I did so for a minute, the mom of one of them appeared, and we got to chatting. Turns out they were from upstate NY, but the mom grew up in SE PA. She said whenever they are in the SE PA region, they always stop at Wawa, as there is nothing remotely close to it where they live.
There are many in Ohio as Wendy’s ran them. I’m not impressed with them.See how many you can find from more than, say, 50-75 miles from the shores of Lake Ontario or banks of the St. Lawrence River.
Wawa has also been adding e-charging stations to existing and new stores.I know nothing about Wawa, but Sheetz in Western Pa seems to be getting a jump on the competition by installing e-charging stations at many locations.
Just what we need, more gas stations and convenience stores.![]()

How about figuring out how to fill all the empty retail space downtown.
So the State of New York is following the Russian model and annexing territory? Still, wouldn't qualify as "upstate."There's one at Great Bend, PA between Binghamton and Scranton on I81
In case anyone was wondering, there are 623 Tim Hortons in the US (including Texas): https://www.scrapehero.com/location-reports/Tim Hortons-USA/See how many you can find from more than, say, 50-75 miles from the shores of Lake Ontario or banks of the St. Lawrence River.
Yes, but the context of the discussion was upstate (New York). There are, or were, 632 Tim Hortons in the US in late 2020: https://www.redliondata.com/tim-hortons-usa-where-were-at-in-2020/
For informational purposes only.Yes, but the context of the discussion was upstate (New York).
So I don't have to eat there? Boy, is that a relief. For informational purposes only.
And Rutters>>>>> Sheetz, with Wawa still far ahead of Rutters!Where I live we have both Sheetz and Wawa. In fact, they are opening a new Wawa directly across the street from a Sheetz.
We have a couple Royal Farms as well.
And Wawa >>>>>> Sheetz>>>>>>Royal Farms
No, that is not what I'm talking about.I think you’re asking someone to figure out how to undo the shift to online sales. Not likely to happen.
No, that is not what I'm talking about.I'm talking about seeing more gas stations and convenience store filling our community. Would rather see other non-chain, more small businesses growing in our community. Covid and high rents have killed retail businesses in the centre region.
Unfortunately Coach, Covid, high rents, and Amazon has pretty much killed small retail throughout the entire country. I’m not sure it ever comes back like it used to be.No, that is not what I'm talking about.I'm talking about seeing more gas stations and convenience store filling our community. Actually Nova, we the taxpayers, are adding charging plugs to facilities across PAWawa has also been adding e-charging stations to existing and new stores.
I've been clear that I prefer Wawa to Sheetz. That said, I've been to the Sheetz on Pugh Street several times, and regret to learn that it is closing.
That seems to be an issue everywhere, it's a big problem here in Harford County, md. Why use an existing site when you can cut down a forrest and build.Just what we need, more gas stations and convenience stores.![]()

Royal Farms chicken is very good.understood, but there was either an official or an unofficial agreement between Sheetz and Wawa to not erect stores in the other's territory. That's slowly been being broken. Wawa has had a few facilities in the Lancaster and Lititz area for some time, and that's traditional Sheetz territory.
I find it interesting that Royal Farms, which is traditionally in MD, has erected several stores/gas stations in the Philadelphia suburbs. I guess there wasn't an agreement between them and Wawa, as Wawa has quite a few stores in Eastern MD.
Florida has become pretty big for Wawa, in terms of a growth area. I've read that the Wawa stores in FL are quite popular.
LOL...there are still 2 other Sheetz in SC.This will hurt our recruiting in Western PA.
Living in DFW I have a buc-ees 25 min from my home. A big fan of theirs….exceptionally well run concept and they regularly win national retail association awards in several categories including the cleanliness of their restrooms etc. I am also spoiled as I get my Wawa fix each summer when I head to the Jersey Shore( Avalon) in July/August. Wawa has major expansion plans for Tennessee…..South Alabama ( coast area)…..Florida Panhandle….Kentucky….Mississippi Coast area….Indiana and eventually Michigan. That seems to be an issue everywhere, it's a big problem here in Harford County, md. Why use an existing site when you can cut down a forrest and build.
Oh and pfftttt on Sheetz, WaWa, Royal Farms, High's, Turkey Hill and Rutgers.
Bucees all the way. It's Jerkey nirvana...

Buc-ee's is Wawa on steroids.
I can get fuel, a fountain drink, a fresh carved brisket sandwich, a pair of Columbia fishing shorts and a new smoker all in the same stop.![]()

Actually there are 6 Sheetz in State College(after the one on Pugh Street closes).LOL...there are still 2 other Sheetz in SC.
