Holy heck what a terrible ending. I have no idea what they were thinking. Cena wins number 17, Cody loses the title after over a year, and they made the focal point of it all a non-wrestling rapper.

I thought the show up to that point was very good and the Saturday main event was outstanding. But goodness gracious did they whiff on the ending.

The Rock starts this whole evil Cena story and just never appears again? WT17.

It was very bad. Right result but terrible execution. Presumably Rock and Austin could have made appearances, but instead we got Travis Scott.

Just terrible booking by HHH for Cena/Rhodes. I don't even disagree with Cena going over, and I knew he wasn't going over clean.

But Travis Scott was never needed in the picture (for both the RR and WM). Where is The Rock at? He basically started this whole mess.

Spamming finishers, dealing with the Travis Scott run-in, and then a relatively premature finish is deflating.

I would hate it less if it had happened quick. But they let that dude have a full entrance in the middle of the main event where he took 5 years to get to the ring. Then he took a Crossroads and couldn’t even roll out of the ring right so Cody had to help get him out in a way that looked terrible. Then Cena just wins on a belt shot.

It’s probably the biggest whiff of the HHH era and one of the worst mania finishes in recent memory.

As others said, Cena winning is fine, how they did it was awful.

Cena winning was a given. As others have said, how they did it was awful. I never liked Cena anyway, so the whole evil Cena thing is as dumb to me as the spinner title. He is not a natural heel at all. The best match of the whole thing was the women’s triple threat.

I don’t watch wrestling but I have a question. Is it sorta like a soap opera for men? Reading comments about wrestling seem like it. No offense, my Dad watched it when I was little, but I just never got interested in it.

I mean it’s basically a live action TV show. So how you like characters in shows and movies is same way wrestling fans like characters in WWE.

Main event was Saturday and the rest on Sunday?

Glad you brought up the issue with finishers because it’s become so overused at events like WM that they may as well be a common suplex. No one is getting duped into thinking a match is over when a wrestler hits one 90 seconds into a match

Everyone over the age of 7 that watches wrestling knows that it’s scripted. But there is still a performance art to it. When it’s bad, pro wrestling is hard to watch, but when the matches or talking segments are good, it can be quite entertaining.

I feel like that started because crowds don’t really react to much of a match other than a finisher anymore. I do think they go to the well on it too often, though. And I do miss the days of one or two guys having a finisher that nobody has ever kicked out of.

I thought the first 3-4 matches on Sunday night were great. Went downhill after the Orton match, IMO. Even Styles/Paul was less good than I would’ve thought.
I'm a big Joe Hendry fan, so I loved it, even though it was a squash. It was great for him to get the exposure. The AJ/Paul fight had too little buildup.

Yeah i thought the Joe Hendry thing was fun. Kevin Owens is one of my favorites so it sucks that he had to be removed from the match and is out for a while now, but I thought that was a fun replacement segment.

I don;t watch wrestling anymore, but I have to tip my hat to John Cena. He has granted more Make-A-Wish meetings with kids than anyone else alive.

You might not like him a wrestler, when he cuts promos, etc. but he is a stand up guy - at least for that. He may do other things on the side I don't know about like kick puppies, but all I know about him is that he is a great ambassador for Make-A-Wish.

Wait, wrestling is scripted? No 17ing way!**
Back when I actually did watched Wrestling (because the Rock was hilarious) my sister and I were watching and my dad came in the room and yelled out "FAKE!!!!" I asked him what his favorite movie was. He thought a second and I asked him if it was Jurassic Park. He said he didn't know if it was his favorite but he liked it. I told him it was fake.

He said the difference was they never pretend that it was real. Wrestling doesn't either, although there was a time they did.

It was funny. A few minutes later, they had a Divas match with Trish Stratus and Lita. My dad - as serious as he could be - says "It looks like I should start watching this too."

He still can’t wrestle. He sucks as heel. And to steal one from Rhodes he is only where he is because a guy shoved a rocket up his *** that isn’t there anymore, and nobody talks about it. Flair is still the greatest wrestler, not that he is a great guy at all. I just have watched a lot of wrestling, and it is hard to say Cena is the best ever. I can think a several guys who were better in ring performers.

He may be a great guy outside of the ring I am only talking in the ring, and nobody in their right mind can say anything bad about Make-A-Wish.

Best in ring technical wrestler I have to give to Angle and I don’t even like Angle. He and Rey Mysterio’s opening match a Wrestlemania forever ago is still the best display of wrestling ability I’ve ever seen. My eyes couldn’t believe how seamlessly they moved in unison

That match that I presume is upcoming is going to be absolutely terrible. Those two were having boring as heck matches in their prime, I can’t imagine it will be a fun watch in 2025. Orton is a better wrestler than Cena but has a very play it safe style that lends itself to a lot of forgettable matches.
