USC's secondary seems a weakness for them. not as tall as LSU's receivers so they can't knock those sky balls away as well.

USC just executed a beautiful screen pass to the RB for a long gain. Don't see too many screen passes anymore in today's football.

He’s dropped a ton of big games also.

Team is talented but undisciplined. Big win for USC - Lynn’s D needs some depth and seasoning but looking good so far. LSU will win 9-10 games IMO.

There were two targeting calls this weekend that stood out, one by TA&M and the other by LSU. Both were of the “in no universe is this hit not going to get you kicked out of the game” variety. I don’t understand this lack of football intelligence and discipline. Also, after the first LSU touchdown the guy who scored got hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, also of the “are you out of your freaking mind?” variety. Wtf?

The USC LSU game was fun to watch. D'Anton Lynn made a bunch of good calls, especially on LSU's first drive with the MLB blitz near the goal line. Helped set the stage for the game.

Looking forward to the SC game in LA later this year.

One would think after all these years of the targeting rule that defenders would learn to not lead with the helmet.

LSU is always talented. They can go toe to toe with anybody in talent level. Kelly has a history of coming up small in big games going back to ND.
Electing to play prevent on final drive against a QB as talented as Moss got the expected result. On one play, Rece Davis described the LSU D as ‘keeping everything in front of them’ to which I thought that they keep doing that and USC will be in FG range. Another of those ‘when will they ever learn’ moments.

Just heard on XM that USC actually tried to cancel the scheduled game with LSU when Riley was hired. LSU said no. Also, LSU hasn’t won a season opener since 2019. O-5 in last 5.

Nothing new with Kelly. This was often his D when at Notre Dame. I hated it.
