Yikes. If that a fun fact, I'd hate to see a more tragic fact.Fun fact: 2 classmates in my high school were shot in separate hunting accidents and both lived. One happened on my family's farm.
Wouldn’t the bullets beat the sound to you? I honestly don’t know what the deceleration is, but muzzle velocity is typically Mach 2 or so, no?I used to enjoy hunting with family for deer, turkey and grouse. About 25 years ago 5 of us were out hunting deer on the first day of rifle season. We were standing in the middle of a field talking and heard a few shots ring out on a wooded knoll just above us. Not more than a second or two later, we could hear the bullets flying directly over our heads. That is a strange experience hearing the bullets cutting through the air just above you. That first day of rifle season in the 80's and 90's used to sound like a war zone. It's no wonder more people don't get hit with stray bullets.

Yes. The velocity of most ammo used in rifles hunters used for deer is three times the speed of sound.Wouldn’t the bullets beat the sound to you? I honestly don’t know what the deceleration is, but muzzle velocity is typically Mach 2 or so, no?
