I was so tired of Frank that I would have accepted any new coach coming in. Frank’s style doesn’t work with kids today. Nobody wanted to play for him.

Paris hasn’t done anything great yet but I hope he will. I like his style. Players seem to like him.

I can't predict how we'll wind up but would be happy to finish in the middle of the SEC after being picked to finish last.

Here's a look at where we are and compared to our short-term schedule.
Carolina 5-0 #31rpi, #131sos
ND 2-2 #168 #114
GW 4-0 #58 #219
CU 4-0 #6 #11

I know that this question was not directed at me since I have been on the Paris bandwagon from the beginning. Why was I on the Paris bandwagon from the start? Although he was not the "big name" hire I wanted, I looked closely at his record at UT-Chattanooga and saw a program where the team's conference and overall record and/or conference standing improved every year. And being a young guy, I felt he should have the energy to be a "go-getter" in recruiting. And the fact that he was mentored as an assistant by Bo Ryan, one of the top basketball coaches in the country in the first 15 years of this century, did not hurt either. I'm excited about the hoop potential. You know, we might have gotten lucky.
You are so right in that a young guy has more energy and stamina to be a "go-getter" in recruiting. That point was immediately underscored in the huge amount of travel he (and coaches) did in pursuing Butler (unsuccessful) and GG Jackson (successful). I really think that landing and managing GG is a feather in Coach Lamont's crown. This shows recruits that elite talent need not go to a blue blood school to have a good shot at the league.

We have officially entered the “others receiving votes” group. We got 3 votes for top 25. Been a long damn time since we’ve even been in that group!!
It has been a couple of years since we played as well as we have in the first 5 games, too.

I think 5-0 is a great start, and hopefully lays a foundation for the rest of the season. But being realistic, the only decent team we've played so far is VaTech, and they are at best are a middling ACC team. I'm going to need see a bit more before I can get overly excited.
Middling ACC team = pretty good. Last year we were losing to middling SoCon teams.

There were a couple of us on the board that saw great promise with Paris. Many did not. A question to those that did not...what's he got to do to get you on board? Not suggesting he's done enough already. But just curious to see what the point is.
I remember his team at Chattanooga beat a good Furman team a couple years ago on a last shot. I think his win knocked Furman out of post season play but not sure of that. He drew up a play getting his shooter open. It was a deep 3 and, of course, his guy had to make it. One final question: why does he always wear long sleeve shirts regardless of weather. Some speculate he has a tatoo he wants no one to see. I keep waiting to see if he will expose his arms.

Maybe he is cultivating the moniker "Qzip". 😉

Yep, that was the SOCON CG.

Not sure why, but he’s definitely leaning into the Qzip deal.

I was against the Paris hire. He was a last second shot away from not being our coach. I was also upset with the whole hiring process.

Last year was a disaster. This year has got off to a nice start and I am quite pleased.

But, he hasn’t accomplished anything yet. A winning record in the SEC will show that he has the program moving in the right direction. The weak OOC schedule is like fool’s gold and is not a solid indicator of what kind of team we are. I think the Clemson game will be our first true test as to who we are.

I like Paris and his style. I like his offensive philosophy and letting the players play to their strengths. There are things to like with what he is doing.

The true nature of the job is getting the right players into his system that are talented enough to compete/win in the SEC. Hope he is the guy!

Honestly he hasn’t done anything. Not even this year yet. We have played bad teams. We play Notre Dame, Georgia Washington, and Clemson next. I fully expect us to lose all 3
