Another great semi-final game. Feel bad for C.J. Stroud as he had the game of his life and lost. Harrison, Jr being out with the injury hurt OSU. In the end Stetson Bennett had a great drive after struggling alot tonight.

tough game for either team to lose. Each team played well enough to win 99.9% of the time. But only 1 team can win. Georgia took the lead with under 1 minute to play, and it came down to a FG attempt by tOSU with 8 sec left that was wide left. It was like watching a heavyweight fight between two Rocky Balboas, where they both took more shots to the head than they should have, but keep shaking it off and wading back in to the battle.

Great to see both OSU and Mich lose in soul crushing fashion. And, now no one has to endure constant RE-runs of the playoff games on BTN!
Correct. Now we can watch a re-run of an SEC team winning a National Championship.

Once again, the top teams in the SEC Prevail. Georgia. Bama and Tennessee all win. Still has to be considered the best conference in the land.

Swift didn’t come to PSU because Saquon and Sanders were already on the roster.

that's inaccurate. Swift didn't care who was on PSU's roster. And FWIW, Georgia had quite a few talented RBs on their roster as well.

I spoke with a PSU player that was a good friend of DeAndre at the end of Swift's sophomore year. I then spoke with DeAndre a few months later. The friend basically said that DeAndre really wanted to play in the SEC. DeAndre wasn't as forthcoming, but did admit that he was interested in playing in the South.

PSU's coaches knew this, and did everything they could to convince him that he could accomplish all of his goals at PSU. Their efforts did keep PSU in the running, but in the end he opted for Georgia, to the surprise of nobody that knew him or was recruiting him.

And he went there with his cousin from Archbishop Wood.

Have you ever heard a winning coach as critical of his team as Smart was after tonight’s win? He was rather critical of Bennett’s performance. He even said at one point that T™️osu deserved to win.

I think uga has a hard stretch of practices coming up.

He coached with Saban, right? Not surprised.

If Stroud had run like this v Mich, then OSU would have beat them. the running QB is what OSU has missed since Fields.

One thing do I like about Smart is that he gives thoughtful responses when asked a question. Day is always like ”gotta believe in the plan” “gotta grind” “gotta put in the work”.

TCU can beat UGA
I agree. TCU gives new meaning to grit and determination. Not only does TCU never give up, they actually improve as the game progresses. Tip your hat to the TCU coaching staff. They recruited solid all around football players (many under the radar kids) developed, and coached them up to a NC game. Look no further than the TCU defensive line in the 2nd half. An undersized group that used proper fundamentals and technique to literally manhandle the best O-Line in college football. This TCU team reminds me of some Joe Paterno led Nittany Lion teams of the late 70’s, early 80’s, a combination of talent with tremendous grit and heart!!

Offensively speaking Michigan played a solid game, actually better than OSU or Georgia. I conclude with this, there is always an inherent risk in gambling, but depending on the spread, betting TCU in the NC game may be a very good start to 2023. 😉

The Swift recruiting story is the typical scenario that Franklin and his staff are up against. There will those recruits, especially elite ones, who want to play in the SEC or a southern school. At the same time, very few kids from the south have a desire to come north and play. Franklin has had a few recruiting successes in the south. Have to give him credit. Its a tough situation. Southern schools win championships and have the moderate weather appeal.

Strong Agree. The best we should go for is making PA off limits to the rest of the BIG and start playing in the playoff more in hopes of keeping just a few more of them in state. The SEC does a great job of promoting itself

I’ll repeat the Zac Harrison story again. He wanted to attend PSU. It was his school. His father would not have been able to attend all of his games, therefore, he stayed 20 minutes from home.
Like Swift, there are things the staff cannot control.

The thing that always bother me, though, is that you don't see a lot of high profile kids from Ohio leave the state, especially in the last 10 years. Ohio kids whom OSU wants go to OSU. That same mentality just doesn't show in PA. I have no idea why, as PSU has always been a successful program who readies kids for success in the NFL. Very few programs can rival PSU in this regard. Could you imagine if the players in those games last night from PA were at PSU?

TCU was the hardest most sure tackling defense of the four teams.

I have to admit it's nice to see the Buckeye fans crying about calls not going their way. They have been the beneficiary of many calls going their way over the years so it's nice to see karma hit them on the big stage. Their OL also got away with A LOT of holding last night. On Strouds long run on the final drive the DT got tackled right at the point where Stroud took off. It was basically a mugging, but of course no flag.

It was a dumb slogan. Many took it to mean cleaning up in numerical terms on the best recruits in the state. Makes no sense when there isn't enough talent in the state to compete at a high level. But when the best recruits in the state are going elsewhere that's not good.
Wasn't it expressed as a goal rather than a prediction? I think it is a good objective to strive for.
