I said Alex wrestle’s like DT. Same style. Only gonna get better. Glad to see the NLWC wrestlers there. Now it’s time for the REAL season. Separate the men from the boys time. Bonus every single match possible.Smackintosh was there with a boot on. Dake there with the fam. His kids were more entertaining than some of the matches. Gabe there but didn't walk out with Max.
God I wish Gary would go for it more often. RBY was RBY and will be missed by college wrestling. What a performer. BB looks totally dialed in. SVN really likes to put on a show. Rockin to the music, he entertains. Haines is a complete Tasmanian devil.......becoming Nolf-like in the motion simply never stops. Whoever said Facundo looks like DT is right. Not quite as long and lanky but relying on constant stalking/motion. The guy he wrestled was a real stud. Alex knew he was going to get tossed, yet couldn't back out or it would have been stalling. Lucky to only give up the two. The duck in the same position later was a thing of beauty.
Carter was Carter. Their guy at 197 is from DeSanto's high school and really had two nice doubles late against Dean. It wasn't nearly enough but I was surprised Max allowed the second. Donovan's guy is ranked, tall with a death grip, very Ruth-like. Ok not a completely fair comparison but when some guys get their hands on you, they are not letting go. Tough for DB but better to go out swinging against a ranked guy.
Clarion was at WVU Friday night. It was tied headed to heavyweight and WVU got the pin for the win. WVU would be a good team to bring into SC for Senior Day or just for a regular beating.
The team looks fit and healthy.....ready to begin the push for Nationals. I won't say we will break our team scoring record at Nationals but this is probably our best overall team we have ever taken to the big dance. The youngsters look to be scoring more than they were earlier in the year.
It took so long for the Nittany deck to clear, the line at the Creamery was short. My Body By Berkey winter session is over......have to get in shape. I want to run a marathon when I am 90 so I have 30 years to train.
Beautiful sunshine in State College this afternoon.....cursing it to high heaven as we headed west on 80. 79N was spectacular.
you're going to need a nap.My thanks to @SleepyLion for his summaries, and to @SRATH for his onsite comments.
I enjoyed reading them when I finally got home, after 10 straight hours of reffing at a tournament.
I remember that if we are thinking about the same one. The one kid kept calling a stalemate a stallmate. The entire match. You never knew when it was an actual stall being called. The youngsters working the BIG+ broadcast are an example of what’s wrong with most of our media. Full of hyperbole, cliche phrases, and knowing just enough to be incredibly dangerous. It is absolutely embarrassing. Reminded me of the two know-nothings that I think worked a Rutgers (or maybe Maryland) match a few years ago.
I listen to Byers on my phone via Lionvision and simply put him on pause until the big+ catches up. Yesterday Big+ was buffering quite a bit (for me) so there were a lot of pauses. On a good note, intermission was a great time to catch up.The youngsters working the BIG+ broadcast are an example of what’s wrong with most of our media. *Yeah I know what you're saying. I suspect the students that are doing the announcing are journalism/ English majors and this is part of their education, but it CAN be tough to listen to. Just report what you're seeing, no need for "excellent, excellent" and "generational talent" awarded to a true freshman. Let's let 'em wrestle. As a young man I did a write-up for a local newspaper (remember those?) and I used 2000 words when I could have gotten away with 200 - and the article would have been readable. I do appreciate it when a student announcer broadcast uses former wrestlers who know what a takedown, reversal, mat return, duck-under, etc. is, and also use their local terminology for particular moves like 'pancake, cow-catcher', etc. and it's obvious they know what they're talking about. Even some of the 'pros' are hard to listen to. IMO Jim Gibbons is the best national broadcaster when he doesn't have his cardinal and gold glasses on. It seems to me that he's done a better job that past year or so broadcasting more objectively and isn't so much of an anti-PSU guy. Hard to believe he doesn't have something in common with Cael and thus reflects on his announcing. He has been known to be candidly caught off guard saying things into a hot mic...
Syncing up Ironhead often works but the two were about 1:45 apart and no matter what I did I couldn't get them any closer without re-running the ads, so I ended up silencing the meet and watched online only.
God bless you for sacrificing your time for the sport you love.............My thanks to @SleepyLion for his summaries, and to @SRATH for his onsite comments.

I may have the person your remember saying A Facundo looks like D Taylor. From his fluidity, speed, working the snaps, he even has a very similar physical appearance. Obviously not fair to put that kind of expectation on A Facundo (vs what D Taylor did/continues to do). I do hope he gets a lil stronger for next year and works more offensive attacks. He’s def a beast/ joy to watchSmackintosh was there with a boot on. Dake there with the fam. His kids were more entertaining than some of the matches. Gabe there but didn't walk out with Max.
