What will it look like?
Twenty years from now at the current rate of spending for capital expenditures, I foresee Old Main being razed and replaced by something similar to this and dedicated to Neeli Bendapudi honoring her as PSU's 19th president.

You have to pay more for a quality leaderer in a challenging environment.
This is how I envision some of the new high rise apartment buildings in 20 years. Students are going to get tired of the overpriced and crappy management of them and the store fronts will never fill. There seems to be an over supply of apartments these days, which is no surprise. BTW, I have noticed many athletes living in the new one on Whitehall road that was once PSU property that was sold to Toll Brothers which there were some environmental protests about because of a well located downhill from. So now, PSU is most likely paying the rents back to Toll Bros to house athletes. I could be completely wrong about this but these have been my observations living in the area.![]()
On a more positive note, Leonard S. Fiore Construction is making progress on the Nittany Lion Inn renovation for the Scholar Hotel Group. The last I heard, they hope to be open by August 2024.

University Park/State College will look more like a disposable city with zero character and branch campuses will likely consolidate (unless the political power is there to keep them up and running like it is with Dickinson Law). I don't think applications or enrollment will be an issue, but really, we should be spending less on athletics. Way too many programs that offer nothing in the way of ROI. Make them club sports. Need to be smart about large investments on campus; you see what happened to WVU - they have declining applications and despite that Gee thought it was a good idea to spend, spend, spend (and now he just lost a vote of no confidence from faculty). Now, the flagship university of the state is embarrassingly forced to cut programs and thus opportunities for its citizens. Pennsylvania isn't there...yet, but could be.
Where is the steeper line for adding more bloated administrative positions.
It is reported that the Scholar Group is spending only $10 million on the NLI Reno... that doesn't seem like much given the pre-covid condition of the place.![]()

It's not clear because it's obscured by the vertical axis.Where is the steeper line for adding more bloated administrative positions.
No oversupply. Either book this week or you will be living in Boalsburg. This is how I envision some of the new high rise apartment buildings in 20 years. Going to disagree with ya there Wink. This is old school thinking, plenty of places in town are vacant even now. If the slum lords were smart, they would rent out the empty places for football weekends. No oversupply. Either book this week or you will be living in Boalsburg.
