Rattler is dialed in so far. Ridiculous line tonight, even for Furman.

We STILL can’t run the ball, not even on Furman. This should have been a game where we could impose our will in the run game. Extrapolate that to the SEC. Not a good prognosis. One dimensional in the SEC is a death sentence.

Even though we were largely ineffective running, I liked how Amderson and Braswell looked late. I’d make them my lead backs. They complement each other well. I just don’t think Joyner is it.

Sellers is our #2 QB. Doty was throwing darts at he feet of receivers. Sellers looked composed and showed off his elusiveness, pocket awareness, arm strength and accuracy.

Lastly, a lot of our opponents look beatable this year…UGA, UT, UK, among others. But they’ll be long shots for us not being able to move the ball on the ground.

Disagree on the running game. No need to even try. We’re not a running team. So no need to even try to impose your will on them. So what if you do? We’re not going to do it to anyone else on the schedule. We’re better off keeping Ratt in rhythm and continuing to get more WRs involved. It is what it is. Having said that, we may have found something in Mario. He’s a dog.

Agree with everything else.

Rattler was impressive again - give him time and he will deliver.
Sellers was impressive - would have no hesitation in putting him in the game
Leggette may be the most improved player on the team - off season accolades were right on target
Joyner is not bad in the running game but would like to see Anderson get more opportunities
OL was improved but must get better if we are to have a run game threat
Defensive injuries are a serious concern as we were not impressive when full strength
As Beamer mentioned in post-game interviews - it's great to get big time recruits like Harbor involved and excited to be a Gamecock, especially in front of visiting big time recruits!

Why did we attempt the 2-point conversion which failed miserably? Special teams practice by Limbo?

I have no problem with the attempt. A game like this is where we need to do that sort of thing. Repping those plays against your own isn’t the same as doing it with real bullets flying. I was really glad to see all of the things we did from the 3rd quarter on…

I was glad to see the screens. Didn’t utilize them when UNC was blitzing the hell out of us in the 2nd half.

All in all, I’m happy with Danger Zone so far. Needs better tools at OL/RB. We may have them on roster already, but we may have to be patient while they develop.

Good win. The last 50 seconds of the first half really changed the completion -- We're tied at 14 and sitting on the 50 yard line. Rattler's school yard bombs connected as our receivers had a decided advantage over their DB. That 13-point margin going into the 2nd half allowed us to play more loose -- especially on defense.

Unfortunately, I don't see UGA as looking very beatable whatsoever though. The difference in talent between us and UGA is about the same as b/t us and Furman. Besides the QB and maybe one or two skill positions, we're outmatched across the board. It's a David v. Goliath scenario. Smart and Muschamp will be looking to crush us once again.

If we can have a decent showing, we should able to build some confidence lost during the UNC moving forward with the rest of the SEC season.
IMO, the best chance we have is to stay up tempo as long as we possibly can. The challenge in doing that is that their 2nd team is probably as good as our 1st team, if not better.

I wouldn't lay a dime on this game. This is one as a fan you go into with zero expectations. Throw the kitchen sink at them as see how UGA responds. This staff can get creative and that's really our best shot. Lining up against them in a traditional sense for 60 minutes is an exercise in futility.

We’ll see. We’ve got the advantage at QB by a wide margin. And that’s huge. If Juice is full speed I don’t think they’re any better than us at WR. They’re banged up at RB. A lot is going to depend on the health of our D. Get a couple of TOs and it could get interesting.

More than his ability, I think we need Mario’s swagger out there. He’s a dog. We need more dogs on the field. Don’t need no cats.

Agree. Don’t get the 50+ attempt on 4th and short against an FCS team….a week after going for it on 4th and 25 instead of taking a 45 yard FG.

Hope you're right. I see them running the ball down on throat on offense and bringing pressure all day on defense. It's just the Law of Averages in football. When your field is showered with 5-star players and your coaches can coach, things typically revert to the mean over 60 minutes.

But we did try and were not successful for the most part. We only got less than 3 yards per carry.

I get it. At some point we’re going to have to let the actual RBs on the roster run it. DK is too slow to the hole, while Mario exploded through it. Our OL needs help. We just can ask that group to open up big holes and hold blocks for an extended period of time. Just not realistic yet. So we need a guy that can create a hole.

#24 - Anderson - has the most visible running back attributes.

We still have issues making space for people to run. We managed only 108 rushing yards against our FCS opponent. Pitiful for an SEC team.

Both Rattler's third-quarter TD pass to Doty and Sellers' bomb thereafter were attributable to flagrant holding not being called on our left tackle. I can't describe how helpless he is against the outside rush. Holding is all he's got.

Yeah, it’s bad. I can’t imagine Fugar gets the start against UGA. If you’re going to get beat, I’d rather a Freshman get beat and grow.

OL still did not have a great night. They did better on protection, but who knows how to take that considering the level of competition? Way too many penalties though. Way too many. Those false start and holding penalties will be drive killers against a team like UGA

Agree on 1 and 2. Anderson just passed the eye test more than Joyner. Clearly to me. That said, the OL still had trouble creating holes. As noted above, we should not have had assert our will against Furman to establish the run game. If you can only run for 2.3 yards per carry against Furman, feel free to extrapolate that to the the SEC.

I didn't notice the hold on Seller's long bomb, but he still had to make the throw. It all comes with the caveat that it was Furman, but it was a very nice throw on his second collegiate pass. Showed a nice touch on the deep pass. I think his TD throw to Harbor was better though. Showed the ability to get the ball into a tighter window.

As always, it's Furman, so who knows what you can really take away from the game, but we can't run the ball.

Anderson showed the needed quickness to jump a called inside run to the outside when the hole wasn't there which Joyner hasn't shown and also showed some wiggle to get through the hole on the inside run.

Agreed. I also liked how Braswell looked. On one of his runs, it looked like it was clogged up the middle and he popped outside really fast and got a few yards up field in a hurry. It wasn't a huge gain, but it was a lot better than a loss.

Again, I know we're working with small sample sizes here, but with how bad the run game has looked, I think you gotta go with what has looked the best.

Football is complimentary. If we had a solid OL that could hold blocks DK would look much better. He's got good vision, but he doesn't have time to read the line to see where to go when there's no hole. Our current OL and DK do not compliment each other. Our OL wasn't great Marcus' freshman year. But he had the ability to fall forward for 3 yards even when nothing was there. And if he had a little hole, he'd blow through it make it bigger, usually carrying guys with him.

The throws were perfect. A crack officiating crew would have negated them both. Obviously the deficit of concern is the tackle position, especially on the left side.

Anderson is a clear upgrade over Dak, maybe he needs to learn the playbook better or pass protection, or has ball security issues in practice or maybe the staff is loyal to a fault, you never know.

I don't think Dak makes 7 yards on that first run by Anderson, if its him getting ball on that play, Dak needs some space, cant create, not a early down back.

I also thought Eddie Lewis the transfer from Memphis, came in and upgraded the passing game, he had 6 catches and 89 yards rather quickly.

at 6 ft a taller target and very smooth and it seemed to pay dividends.

I hope to see more of him vs Georgia as well. Seems to be a upgrade at his position in the passing game.

Nice timing! Was just named the #1 graded WR of week 2 by PFF:
