Powe's not pushing 400, but he damn sure doesn't look like he's 340 either.

If the reports were coming from Chuck and Yancy alone, that would be one thing, but Nutt and his staff, along with Powe, have said that he's only got 10-15 pounds to lose to get to the target 330 weight.

340 is still huge, but it's not 400 or even 380. Considering he's been working out with the team lately, I'd say it's highly probable that he's in the 340 range right now, and I'll bet that wherever he is today, he'll be 10 pounds lighter by kickoff on August 30. Fall practice will drop the rest of the weight off for him.

Never have I heard one single Ole Miss fan (I'm a Rebel) say anything as absurd as what you claim to have heard. Not saying some ding-dong didn't say it, but don't attribute it to all the fans.

Shirley Powe stated that " Jerrell really is a good child, but he just can't read."

Wow. Can't read in 2006 but has met all academic requirements at Ole Miss to be eligible. You are a very fast learner Mr. Powe. Clearly there is academic fraud in this case.</p>

Newsflash: Just about nobody writes their own quotes in press releases.

I have written press releases before in my career and, like most people handling any PR duties, you write the quotes for the person in your organization who is being "quoted," they review them, make changes maybe, and approve. Or, alternatively, you get them to write the quotes, you clean them up (which is done for corporate CEOs who have ****** spelling and punctuation, not just learning disabled football players), then have the cleaned-up version approved for release.

Unless you're someone specific about writing your own quotes, this is how it works. To pretend everyone's caught Powe defrauding the public is just plain silly.

Whoever posted something about how he should now give press conferences to prove he is so eloquent -- yeah, no crap that a football player might not be eloquent. Again, press releases are edited and honed by PR people.

Well, we know that Powe probably couldn't write something with grammar that strong, but then again, we also know that the Croom couldn't write something that well put together either.

I just don't think he could keep himself from saying the stupid **** that would come into his head if he decided to recite it in person to the media.
