Preseason Poll Is Out

Looks like we get #13, #6, #20, and #11 at home.

We travel to play #5, #16, and #14.

If we can go undefeated against that schedule, they should just give us the national championship and forego the playoff.

If Beamer can produce a few upsets in that schedule, that will give me confidence that maybe he is the ONE for the long-term.

I've come to the conclusion that all though these polls are fun and provide some friendly debate, for the most part they are meaningless, a better picture of the landscape will be determined around 10/1.

I won’t say they are meaningless as only two teams outside of Top 7 have won the National Title the past 20 years. These polls usually give you an idea of who should be strong. But obviously they change. And obviously some teams are typically overrated each season based on name alone.

It’s certainly logical to conclude we have a difficult path to bowl eligibility this season based on the poll. We’ll need some help (Letdown Year for some teams) and an upset or two along the way.

Yes, there are always some surprises, in both directions. Very likely, somebody in that group will have a disappointing season and not be nearly as good as predicted. On the other hand, there is probably somebody on our schedule who will turn out to be much better than expected.
