that it takes weeks and weeks between when the committee and the consultant are named for the consultant to meet with them and essentially tell them what he is going to be doing in the future?

****, they can hire a CEO for Citigroup in 1 week, but it takes months and months to even START looking for a MSU president? Retarded.

are still putting on this whole charade. I mean, correct me if Im wrong, but the search committee last time didn't even have Foglesong as one of its five finalists.

we shouldn't be in any rush to name a president -- we don't want to be accused of doing things like yankees, or anyone else that is remotely on top of what needs to be done.

why a good ol' boy Mississippi university doesn't move as fast as a market-based Fortune 10 financial institution?

I agree that finding a president needs to be done. The sooner the better. But Watson has done just enough (giving Byrne the keys to the coaching search) to give me a semblance of confidence in him until the government/university bureaucrats get around to checking it off of their to-do list.

a close relative that was on the president search committee when we hired Foglesong. He told me he felt like he was conned and he was pissed because the preception was that the board had chosen Foglesong when he was not even interviewed.

that they haven't even started looking yet. They are still having meetings scheduled weeks out to outline the process. I hope this is ONE HELL of a process if it takes this long to establish it.

Why in the hell cann't they just pull out the resumes' of the ones they had last time. It's not like it has been years and years ago. Just go ahead and name Keenum and get this damn thing over with. We don't want to be stuck with and interim president for too long. And, Watson should be just that --- interim. No way he should be permanent.

to be, we have to find a president who is willing to take orders from his subordinates. Doc Fogelsong was not.
