I wonder if Elko will start the superstar QB or the politician QB.
Without getting either one of us banned..... what do you mean "politician QB?" - I promise with my hands on the Bible.....I don't know what you mean by that. (Which is surprising because I love college football but apparently I've missed something somewhere)

You must have never played any sports. The best does not always start over the mediocre.

I never remember anything but afternoon starts for that one. It probably warrants a noon start this year, but it probably won't get it.
It's almost always a game CBS and now ABC claim for the 3:30 slot prior to the season.

I wonder why they didn't choose Arky-Ole Miss? I miss the 3:30 game on CBS. ABC feels like a huge step down
It is. Especially since no CBS coincides with some felt need by ESPN/ABC to make the noon time slot a bigger deal. Noon kickoffs, especially before November if attending in person, suck. I guess they they think they need to compete with Fox. They don’t.

They must be hard up for a game if they would put a three-loss team in that slot, including two losses at home.
I guess if they are thinking if it turns out like two of those three looses vs top 10 teams, it would be well worth it.

Very weak SEC slate this week. UF/UGA gets the nod as the biggest matchup b/c of the history. They are getting the prime 3:30 slot.

After that, I dunno. As noted above, Arkansas/Ole Miss is probably a better overall matchup, but A&M is ranked 10 and Ole Miss is 19 and considered a disappointment. A&M has the excitement factor still being in contention for the SECCG.

I don't think we factored too much in the decision.

I do not necessarily agree with that statement. The way the played against Alabama and LSU I think did factor into the decision.

I didn't say we that we didn't factor at all. The biggest factor for the time slot, though, is A&M. And if they lost to LSU, I'm not sure we get the slot. There's a reason they waited until after Saturday's results.

Geogia/Florida has been the 3:30 game for a while now. Like our game, the draw there is Georgia, not Florida. Florida beating UK like they did and the whole "new qb" storyline is giving that game a little boost.

A&M is the new darling of ABC/ESPN after they beat LSU. I'm not sold on A&M. I think they can be beaten Saturday.

The draw with Georgia/Florida is it's the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. It's one of those rare rivalries than transcends the two teams and people tune in to see that particular game, even if one or both teams isn't great. It helps of course that Georgia is a top 5 team, but this was the 3:30 CBS game for years even when Georgia and Florida weren't national contenders.

It is sort of like a bowl game in the middle of the season.

If they could have done one scintilla better, they would have done it.
Agree. The only other possibility for them to consider was Ole Miss/Arkansas, but the shine has already worn off Ole Miss as they sit at 19 in the polls. A&M is the hot team right now as the only team undefeated in SEC play. They are also in strong CFP contention, so that's they are the factor in this being the 7:30 game.

True, But I think USC and the way they played in those games did factor more than you post I quoted seemed to give credit for.

Sure, does not change the fact both those games were great viewership games thanks a lot to has close the games were played. Had they been blowouts by the other teams, USC would not be playing in the 7:30 ABC slot. It is not only A&M's performance that secured the time slot.

"Almost winning" and losing close don't hold any weight with tv scheduling. A&M is the media darling right now and the draw for viewers. A 7:30 kickoff is 6:30 Central time where A&M's fan base is and that time will pull the most viewers. The Texas media markets are the prize, not the South Carolina fan base or the team.

I think the reason Ole Miss/Arkansas didn't get the prime time matchup is because both teams are from small media markets and the network knows it will get more viewers from A&M. If we were playing Vandy this Saturday, there is a strong likelihood it would be a noon kickoff.

So you truly believe that had South Carolina been blown out by LSU and Alabama they would be playing the 7:30 ABC game this Saturday?
