So you truly believe that had South Carolina been blown out by LSU and Alabama they would be playing the 7:30 ABC game this Saturday?
I do. A&M is what ABC is showcasing and South Carolina is a conference game, those are all the ingredients ABC needs to make the game its prime time matchup. If A&M were playing Auburn I think that game would be the prime time matchup. Like I said, if we were playing Vandy, or Auburn for that matter, I think our game would be a noon kickoff.

Well, I disagree. I do not think this game would be on ABC at 7:30 if USC would have been blown out by Bama and LSU.

Sure, does not change the fact both those games were great viewership games thanks a lot to has close the games were played. Had they been blowouts by the other teams, USC would not be playing in the 7:30 ABC slot. It is not only A&M's performance that secured the time slot.
It's almost ENTIRELY on the basis of their performance that this game got prime time exposure. ABC needed a top 10 team to showcase. Our only contribution is having won more than we've lost. Margins wouldn't have mattered.

Yes. All we needed to be is a warm body with a winning record. That's how slim this week's pickings are. The offerings are pathetic.

I love you, Brother, so we'll just cancel each other's vote on this one. I don't see where they had much to choose from. If LSU had taken care of business the other night, it would have flipped the whole thing.

I believe it would have been Ole Miss and Arkansas had USC been blown out by LSU and Bama. And that choice would have been made a week earlier.

Texas A&M at South Carolina was chosen for the night game slot back in June. This game was always going to air at night on ABC, ESPN, or SEC Network.

Ole Miss/Arkansas was chosen for the early window of games back in June, as was Vanderbilt at Auburn.

Georgia/Florida was chosen for the 3:30 ABC window back in June.

Tennessee and Kentucky was chosen for another night slot back in June, so the two options ABC, ESPN, and SEC Network had for night games was between us and UT/UK.

Obviously first place A&M at South Carolina is a more interesting national matchup than Tennessee vs Kentucky.

I guess the only variable is which network the game is aired on.

Thank you! I don't understand how this is a conversation every week like it's a big surprise of when we're playing. All of these game slots were announced back then with the exception of Clemson.

I can see now why they would have been able to project back in the summer how this week could be a pre-Thanksgiving turkey.

They must be hard up for a game if they would put a three-loss team in that slot, including two losses at home.
Their win over LSU was probably the deciding factor.

I'll be in Beaufort sans cable, etc and will be viewing via rooftop antenna from ABC News 4 WCIV Charleston 36.2.

I agree, but we're not in that slot if based on environment. Pretty sure it wouldn't happen if we we're playing Wofford.
I'm guessing the game vs Terriers will be relegated to a 12 noon kickoff.I prefer all home games be played at night.

Even LSU, where they played night games regularly beginning at least in the 1930s, gets stuck with this, the heat of the day (which is why they started plaing at night way back when) notwithstanding.

Wofford is scheduled for 4:00pm.

We all love the night games in Williams Brice.

ABC/ESPN gave us a night game in Williams Brice.

And we're arguing among ourselves about why they gave us a night game in Williams Brice.

Just enjoy the freaking moment.

It's the ONLY reason these two would get anything in prime time above an SEC Network slot.

Judging by the nearly complete lack of discussion about this game, it seems most here have written if off as a loss.

If you want to get any actual discussion about this gavm you have to scroll past threads about the World Series (3 of them), a mystery coach named Crestwell, journalism, Boise St. RB, the super moon, Gamecocks girls basketball, golf facilities, someone named Morikawa, Vandy, etc.

Seems the game, aside from our kick time, isn't even on anyone's mind.

ESPN offers a weekly college football game in upscaled 4K and the sports network this Saturday (November 2) will broadcast the Texas A&M-South Carolina game in the format at 7:30 p.m.

95% of gamecock social media is like listening to children discuss politics. Hence the ‘lack of discussion’; I think people are just tired of the vapidity.

They announced the specific time or window (early afternoon, afternoon, night) for all our games besides Clemson back in June. Wofford kicks at 4:00 on SECN+

It's an especially stupid argument since ESPN decided this would be a night game back in June!

It's more nuanced than that. Several games are on during prime time in the East. Not all outlets are equal. We rode A&M coattails and a milquetoast SEC schedule this week to get the ABC game - and then we somehow want to brag about it. Typical groping for relevance.

You're going out of your way to critique as well.

This game was chosen for a night game in June, which means there were literally three options: ABC at 7:30, ESPN at 7:30, or SECN at 7:45. It didn't matter how bad or good we were, or how bad or good A&M was, this game was always going to be one of those three slots.

Obviously A&M being top ten makes the matchup more relevant nationally than the other SEC night game this week (Tennessee/Kentucky), so we go on ABC.

Like a mole on Marilyn Monroe's face, we're just happy to be there.
I expect so. I never understood why Cindy Crawford didn't get the mole near the left side of her mouth removed. It was distracting.

I know this is not what fans want to hear, but let's be honest. They are in that time slot/network because of the Aggies, not the Cocks.
I disagree in part. We have established a brand this year of a quick and fast defense with blitzes coming from every direction and 1st round draft choices leading the way. The media loves an entertaining team and we fit the bill.

That Alabama game @ Tuscaloosa was one of the most entertaining of the year. TAMU is the highly ranked teamed but their style of play is a little bland. But they just win. So a good balanced show coming. Hope we have a great day with all of the recruits coming and watching on National TV.

Oh, we could win the game, but to say we somehow pre-qualified to be in this position by virtue of some attribute is a huge stretch. We're just past midseason and we're one game above .500. Let's get a grip here. Texas A&M is the story, the league's latest new toy since Texas got tarnished. That's what this is about.

We are all just having fun here so all I am arguing is that there is a reason that this game is being shown versus several others that would normally in other seasons seem more competitive. Network TV likes fun competitive games

If the bookies and the media expected this to be be a blowout and not a hotly contested game we would not be in primetime. I'm certainly not star struck by our team and realize we have 3 losses, but the expectation of a good competitive game with one of them a top 10 team is why this game is on primetime. And I agree we could lay an egg at home again or win the game. But our ability to play Top 10 teams tight is why we are in this position.
