These usually get settled but interesting timing as FOX just released their DTC service too.

Just got a YTTV email, says

In order to provide you with the best in live sports, news, and entertainment, YouTube TV enters into partnerships with content providers like Fox. Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date, and we are in active negotiations to continue carrying their content. Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides, as well as our subscribers.

We want to be transparent about these discussions: if we are unable to reach an agreement with Fox by August 27, 2025, their content may become unavailable. If this happens, this will impact channels like the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, and Fox Sports, as well as any Library recordings you have from these channels.

We know how frustrating it is to lose channels, which is why it’s our goal to keep Fox on YouTube TV. We’re committed to continuing to work with Fox to reach an agreement, but if their content becomes unavailable for an extended period of time, we'll offer our subscribers a $10 credit.

If Fox becomes unavailable, you can continue to watch their sports, news, and shows by signing up for Fox One. For more information on the impact to our Spanish Plus, 4K, Sports Plus, and Fox Nation add-ons, please visit our Help Center.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to advocate on behalf of our subscribers and work towards an agreement with Fox. We will continue to update our Help Center with the latest. As always, we sincerely appreciate your YouTube TV membership.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team

As a Saints fan, I genuinely hope they are unable to work this out.

Recently cancelled YTTV myself. I wasn’t watching it enough to pay for it. Bought a Tablo OTA recorder and did the ESPN Unlimited. That’ll take care of 95% or so of everything I watch.

I look at it like this…it’s like taxes. One way or other, you will pay.
I do watch FOX News a bit, but I'm ok letting them sit for awhile. I'll live regarding the rest.
I'm in a bad arear for terrestrial TV, but I plan to try a decent antenna. (waiting to see what the reports are on
this ESPN stuff., So those that are signing up for the ESPN app, please tell us how it works)

That's why you need an antenna if you are within an area you can get over the air broadcasts, for when these greed mongers start rattling the nuts in their sacks to see whose nuts are the biggest. I easily get all the networks plus more in lowly Starkvegas MS USA

I always sign up for YTTV around now and cancel after the Superbowl. Screw that! I just signed up for the bundle. Can't beat $30 vs $85 and all I was watching on Youtube was sports.

I have one more YouTubeTV Public Service Announcement while we're on the topic.

Don't tell Dave Ramsey, but I've got numerous credit cards that I use for points/discounts. You've probably seen the offers from various merchants on your credit card website: 1% at Home Depot, 5% at Little Caesar's, etc. Well, YTTV has one of these for $20 off a subscription payment.

The offer is worded as if it applies to a new subscription only. But it works to get a $20 savings even if it's not your first payment. I've used this offer on different cards six or seven times in the past year. It usually pops up on a Chase card (Freedom, Sapphire, or Ink). Just activate the offer, make the card your payment method for YTTV, pocket your $20 savings, and check again the following month for a similar offer.

After a few months of procrastinating, I finally cancelled YTTV today. Was paying $82.99 after starting off around $60-$70. Reason for cancelling was that only my wife watches it, and we found all the stuff she likes is on Peacock and can get that for like $11 per month.

Anyway, this is not a “shít on YTTV” post, I just didn’t need it anymore. But for those that still subscribe to it and enjoy it, I’ll share with you that when I navigated over to the “manage account” section before I even cancelled it, there was a ribbon at the top offering $10/month off for the next 6 months. Just click the ribbon and lock it in, no phone call or anything. Strangely, they aren’t really advertising this much cooler price being available….not sure why….

Didn’t do me any good because I just don’t watch it, but if you have YTTV….I’d encourage you to go ahead and cash in on your free $60 if you haven’t already.
Meh, I just went into mine and all it's offering is a $45 referral bonus.

Along similar lines, the AmEx Blue cash preferred offers 6% back for streaming services. As well as 6% at grocery stores (obv huge for a Sixpacker) and a decent 3% at gas stations. I want to say $95 a year, still excellent value.

set a calender reminder for July 2026 to cancel before the actual monthly non-promotion pricing kicks in

For anyone who tried and didn’t see the notification, I’d advise taking it a step further and actually trying to cancel. Chances are that you’ll get promo stuff floated your way that way as well. If you’re paying the $82.99, you’re going to be paying that even if you “un-cancel” right after. Price ain’t going up. If you’re only paying $72.99, you’re already getting that $10 off so its less likely you’ll get to cash in on it. But by all means, keep trying. Get them on the phone and let them know you need the reduction.

This is a big gripe I have with the big telecom companies as it is. They are essentially adding way more on the top of what they actually need to be profitable and competitive, and expecting to not be called out on it. As long as consumers just shut up and take it, the costs will continue to spiral out of control. It’s a big reason why I’m taking a minimalist approach to the whole thing as far as streaming subscriptions. The new ESPN DTC app sounds decent, but we all know damn well that it’s going to be $55-$60 per month within 2 years. And $30 is all they need to make it worth their while. Pure greed, nothing more.

I just noticed today that our YoutubeTV is now $89 per month. Does Peacock carry all golf tournaments the same as the golf channel because golf is the only reason we keep YoutubeTV that I know of.

Somebody must have blinked. The given deadline has been reached, and so far the FOX stuff is still on.

&tate has the chance to ROCK the football 11AM Saturday time slot #BlockFOX

ETA: got a Table in and shocked at how good it is. Guide data, recording, NBC/CBS/FOX/ABC all crystal clear and works using Amazon/Apple/Google TV. Set several games for Saturday to record. All 100% free.

Will cancel YTTV this Saturday. Never use it except for games. Adding $29 ESPN next week.
